  1. Mac Jones had twice as many throws. That's the major, major problem with Lance. He's coming from a run first college offence, having played in a run first high school offence. Fair play to the scout who bets their career on him turning into an All Pro. He's a savant if it happens. I wouldn't want to make that call, there's just not enough data on the guy.
  2. It's a Salary Cap casualty. He tore his achilles in the post-season. He's not going to play this year. He makes a lot of money. Most of the NFL is going to watch him rehab from the sidelines I think - he can't help anyone this year.
  3. So what do you go by if you throw out stats and wins when scouting? It seems to me like you're omitting a big part of the equation.
  4. Dan Marino was a 59.4% thrower. The game has changed - you can't compare stats over the ages.
  5. Hopefully Fitterer has brought some of that Lockett / Moore / Metcalf magic with him.
  6. He'd have to lose some muscle mass, but he could absolutely be a deep threat at WR. He runs away from teams.
  7. It's not smoke and mirrors for any of those teams. Any team that's sending their GM and Head Coach to Fargo is investing a lot of resources (think how much both guys make per hour + travel costs). It's a legitimate trip - you HAVE to take a closer look at a prospect like Lance. Personally I think he's too much of a risk - had a great season, has a lot of the elite physical attributes you look for, but hasn't played in a year and has very limited experience throwing the football.
  8. One of those gentleman is not like the others...
  9. I think coincidentally Josh Allen is the outlier for raw, athletic QB who needs work on all their fundamentals. Yet people are all over drafting Fields or Lance ("The Big 4 QBs").
  10. Can you hack a National Championship winning season together?
  11. Honestly he's the toughest son of a bitch ever for finishing that game.
  12. I love the internet. What does an ex-NFL QB know about QB play? Nothing, when it doesn't fit with your narrative.
  13. You're not in the minority that Minshew has proven he can play in the NFL. The problem you have is that he's proven he can play in the NFL. Jacksonville have him on a very cheap contract. They're not going to let him walk unless you throw significant Draft capital their way.
  14. Winston isn't super athletic. The last 4 teams playing this year all had pocket passers. Mahomes and Rodgers can buy some time with their legs, but neither is a runner (Rodgers used to be, but he's 37 now). Games are still won and lost by throws made from the pocket. All this talk of 'let's draft an athletic QB so they can dodge unblocked defenders' is baffling to me. Fields / Lance / Lawrence are all very athletic guys - but if you ask them to consistently buy time for themselves in the NFL they're going to fail. People hate on Jones - and at this point it's just blind bias. They don't actually look into what he achieved at Alabama - they just explain it away by the supporting cast. Speaking of that supporting cast - they all think he's much better than Tua, and have said so publicly. At the end of the day, Jones is probably going to be a very consistent starting NFL QB. There's a lot of value to that - but then we're on a blog where people wouldn't cut off their left arm for 10 years of prime Matt Ryan, so....
  15. I've seen a couple of QB experts tear his technique to shreds - he's a guy that really worries me.
  16. You can't cut him without a viable replacement. Even if we take a first round QB odds are we're going to start Bridgewater next year. We'd have to sign an established vet to move on from him.
  17. Then damn, the Panthers sure were relying on a 205lb rookie - what with them aligning him to make all the tackles.
  18. The Alabama game is where I changed my tune about Pitts - he was Mossing 1st / 2nd round CBs. He's never going to be an elite all-round TE, but he's a weapon in the passing game. Njoku's development as a blocker whilst at Cleveland has been remarkable - I don't see why Pitts can't do the same. When you're that good as a pass catcher it's just about doing enough ala Olsen, rather than bodying your guy. I'd need to fully invest time into scouting him to be on board with taking him at #8 (for example), but if you think he's a mismatch player then you don't hesitate. We already have one in McCaffrey. Pair him with Pitts and the opposition LB / S are going to have nightmares before every Panthers game - or they're assigning a CB to him and your WRs get to play against lesser players. THAT to me is what the Draft is about - not rolling the dice on the 4th best QB on the board.
  19. Honestly, 'positional value' is how absolute superstars slip to the dominant teams as the poor teams chase that QB / LT / CB. My approach to the Draft has always been to take the best guy available - FA is where you fill holes. There's nothing more painful than watching your middling LT / QB run out for you while that stud LB / TE / RB (etc) who was taken with the next pick tears up the league.
  20. And he looked significantly worse in the one game he played last year. I shudder to think what he's fuged up mechanically working out on his own all year.
  21. Where do we stand on the compensatory pick front? Only Samuel would net us one I'd imagine?
