HEAVENS TO BETSY, LOOK AT THESE WIDE-OPEN RECEIVERS
OldhamA replied to Carl Spackler's topic in Carolina Panthers
They're not College open in those clips, but they're NFL open. Got to make those throws - you're not going to have 5 yards of separation most downs. -
The young dude who has never called plays anywhere before?
-
Well that'd be a first for him.
-
They don't get 'College' open, no. You have to throw them open at this level.
-
Who should be calling plays then?
-
This is what they signed up for when they drafted Young. If he succeeds he'll be Brees-lite, shredding you laterally until you overcompensate and he can hit a deep pass. It's a dink and dunk offence that has to be absolutely perfect in it's execution though - but that's his (physical) skill set.

The Panthers conceding defeat with nearly four minutes on the clock.

He doesn't see the middle of the field - if you watched his tape in College it was clear that he anticipated the coverage (based off film study, mainly) and threw blind. NFL players have already sussed that out - he didn't know Bates was going to be there either time. -

It starts from the top - with the HC they've just paid millions and millions of dollars to. -
Wait, after a game where we got choked out by a bad Falcons team you thought you'd start a chest-thumping thread about Hubbard running for 60 yards (and no TDs)? H'ok, you do you, bro.
-
I mean are we even at 53 players on the roster?
-
That was the 1st round pick TVD I saw two years ago btw. He's clearly a system QB and needs a strong OC to hold his hand, but he can make every throw in the book.
-
They'll drop back just enough that they have a legit shot of the Playoffs / they have enough juice to pass on to an SEC team if they lose. Same as it ever was in the media-driven SEC.
-
Biggest win since ND in 2017.
-
Yep, but I'm glad we have a cupcake next week 'cos we'd lose against anyone half decent after that performance. Feels like Cristobal has got recruiting right and we're turning a corner.
-
And now he's holding out. Get on the phone, Fitterer and trade this guy.
-
The SEC is top heavy, like always. Alabama and Georgia lead the way, there's a couple of good teams (probably Tennessee) and then a whole host of teams that trade off the SEC brand.
-
Damn, why not just carry 46 instead if they're not going to be active on game day? Think of the salary savings Tepper can make(!)
-
Glad to see you're both content wasting a roster spot in a hugely competitive league.
-
Why cut Corral if you're only going to carry 52 players into the season? The jury is definitely out on Fitterer.
-
Shoulda traded him.
-
The defence has completely shut them down and we've run the ball at will. TVD has a splint on his throwing hand - they're nursing him through the game.
-
By homers you mean fans, right?
-
Not a lot on tonight?! THE U is playing. What more could you possibly want.

A rephrasing of Jimmy Johnson's famous line: "It's about the Jimmy's and Joe's, not the X's and O's". If you have better players than the opposition, especially at this level, it doesn't matter how good their play calling is.
