With the right QB, just about any team could be a fringe playoff team, especially with almost half the conference going to the playoffs. All you have to be is above average. I think with the right QB, we are a playoff team. The biggest question marks are oline and coaching. A great QB can somewhat overcome a bad oline. Enough to get to playoffs. I believe our D is good enough and our skill positions are good enough - for 6/7th seed. Playcalling this past year was incredibly questionable as well as our QB play.

We want Tepper to make the selection with our 1st round pick this year. Did you not get the memo that Tepper is not involved enough in football decisions and that's the problem?

Hate the poll. The choices are too absolute and lack any nuisance. Maybe that's by design, but it's way too early in the draft process for a hard yes or no answer. So my vote was to not vote at this point in time. Right now, I'd say no to Pickett but that could change. I've never even seen him throw a football with my own eyes yet. But my gut feeling is he is mediocre at best and not worth the #6 pick. High second rounder I'd be more ok with. I'd also say, if we MUST take a QB this draft, then yes Pickett.

You want Tepper to make that evaluation? Serious question. Do you want Tepper to evaluate and make any decisions on draft QB's?

Don't we have a new OL coach? Wouldn't he prefer to select his own assistant, or at least have a say in it? This move makes sense and shouldn't be surprising. I bet we will have a bit more change over, on the offensive side especially.

At the very least, it does sound as if it's consensus that he is the best of the class. I've read that a couple places already as well. I think 6 is a reach but from the scouts it sounds like it's not a massive reach, as in a whole round?

Look I'm not a huge Pickett fan, buuuuuuuuuut.... Can DJ Moore get better? Can Brian Burns get better? What about Jeremy Chinn? Has he peaked? Chinn turns 24 in a few days. At what age do QB's reach their prime? I've always heard 28-32. I guess it's the right balance where the mental is all there and the physical hasn't deteriorated too much. Now, I know you can talk about Darnold with this and say "look see he hasn't peaked either lets hold onto him for another 4 years, derp, derp!" to which I say Darnold has already proven he's not it in the NFL. Maybe he can develop more, but the ceiling is real low. tldr - I think it's a premature to declare someone has hit their ceiling just because they are 24.

This is my issue with Pickett. Burrow does this, Pickett hides his hands. Just says a lot about their mentality. Pickett doesn't seem very alpha in all this.

Are you holding the ball at the laces??? Also out of curiousity, my hands measure 8 1/2" - same as Pickett's. But I'm 5' 6" tall. If he legit has a hand condition, that's going to have to evaluated more closely. I'd be curious what his left hand measures just as a comparison.

How? Please elaborate. Don't get me wrong, i have no fuging clue about QBs. I also have no fuging clue how messing up on one draft pick ruins your franchise for multiple years.

That doesn't make any sense. Just because your 1st rounder busts this year doesn't mean you can't draft another next year (see Cardinals). Unless you trade up for 3 1st rounders, in which that case you would have a point.

That's all it takes. 1. Get a QB. 2. Win. That's it. That's basically the formula.

Not really. If your opponent is constantly getting 30 yard fields, they are going to score more points. Those points count against the defense, even though they are defending a short field. Not saying that is exactly what happened with us, just saying short fields makes your defense look worse than it is and we had A LOT of turnovers.

Flores has made himself virtually unhireable.

You have to play to win. If you never roll the dice, you'll never find your franchise guy. You can take the safe pick over and over again, but until you win the QB lottery, you will never be more than a playoff contender. That's where you need smart scouts and front office to really get some sort of hint of who could be and who isn't. This year, is any of these guys worth it at 6? Idk. I don't get paid to watch QBs all day and night. Will none of these guys be franchise QB's? Doubt that. I bet one of these guys will be legit. I hope that guy is a Panther next year.
