Robbie/y on I Am Athlete podcast speaking on Sam & Baker
frankw replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can't comment on all that I'm not wading into the abyss here that is microanalyzing his speech or spelling. I don't care how the man expresses himself. Just don't try to sell fans on some sob story. His former team is significantly better off without his and Sam's services. These folks saying oh he's a good teammate for supporting Sam will be one of the first to attack either of them when the games are played and we struggle. -

The no win situation began thanks to Matt Rhule choosing to start the foundation of his roster with two players the Jets discarded. The same franchise that has 1 winning season in the last 11 years. -

Worst team in the league with two of the worst starters at their positions patting each other on the back. Now that sounds like the new Browns. -

Robbie has talent but if the ceiling of that talent were as high as some think (like the guy who mentioned he had almost 2k yards receiving once) there would be a trade market for him and we would have already moved him. Look at what teams have given up for other receivers in trades and salary. And if anyone thinks the team put him up to this acting like a fool groveling over Sam Darnold all I can do is laugh. -

Let Terrace Marshall Jr prove why we drafted him in the second round. Robbie can ride off into the sunset with his bestie. -

I've given up trying to "read" him based on his social media presence. I don't think even Robbie understands what is going on inside his head. When he initially mentioned a vague reason of sticking up for Sam Darnold I was thinking maybe he's just trying to sell the backpedal on Baker. But now that he is tripling down I think he's just unwell altogether and the odds of him playing out that contract here are very slim. To put this all into further context for why I am reacting this way think of if a player had come out with an impassioned defense of Jimmy Clausen when it was clear we were likely drafting a quarterback in 2011. Make no mistake that is the level of QB play Darnold has been on par with. Overall I just get the vibe this is the crap the Jets saw brewing and this is a key reason why neither of those two are Jets anymore. Now lucky us we have to deal with this soap opera. Thanks Matt. -

Oh shut off the sad music already. Even I've defended Robbie in the past but if this man is serious about his loyalty to Sam Darnold they can both hit the bricks and if you've got a problem with that you can head on out with em too. -

The Baker Mayfield trade has made him officially cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

"I will say this with Sam though. I feel like his development was all messed up coming into the league," Anderson continued (3:33). "Look at Pat [Mahomes] and look at Lamar [Jackson]. They didn't play right away. I don't think that Sam should have played right away. Robbie Anderson was quick to talk poo to his own fans when he was playing terrible yet he's actually out here defending Sam Darnold aka the worst starting quarterback in the league like that man pays his salary. Get both these bums out of here. -
Insight into the broken relationship between the Browns and Mayfield
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
We'll never get the whole story of that and I have little doubt Baker shares a good bit of blame in it. Let's keep this in full perspective though. Beckham Jr is talented but the man is also a damn lunatic. Never will forget the sight of him intentionally trying to turn Josh Norman into a vegetable on the field. -
The trade is and was horrendously stupid no matter the justification they attempt to appease the fanbase with. But that does not mean Williams was a bad pick or does not have potential. He should be good for us. If you can't enjoy some basketball without bias over your favorite college team getting in the way sports are officially not healthy for you.

Joe spoke as enthusiastically about Bridgewater as Rhule did. He had built in familiarity with the Saints offense. Tepper might have pushed for Brady but Joe had plenty to do with Teddy signing here. It's still on Rhule though. He had to put his stamp on the offense after moving on from Cam so quickly. Instead of being patient and drafting his own guy he was stubborn and impatient yet at the same time we were still being fed a story about a rebuild. Just a mess.

Insight into the broken relationship between the Browns and Mayfield
frankw replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really don't give a poo about the Browns. Either he will play at a high level here or he won't. But when you put aside all this bickering he said she said he has actually seen success as a starter. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and if it doesn't work we'll be talking draft again. -
Sam Darnold isn't going to magically "get it". He has been the same catastrophe prone quarterback since USC. Please accept what is in front of you for the sake of what is left of your sanity. As for Baker. If he doesn't work out it's Corral and another draft pick if that doesn't yield the results we seek. But there is no scenario where Darnold is a franchise quarterback. This really isn't as complicated as you are making it.
-
You've repeatedly argued that Sam Darnold is actually a good QB with data showing he is the worst starter over the last several years. Look in the mirror before throwing around statements like this guy.
-
By this time next year he'll be gone and you are welcome to follow him.
-
So you're here why then?
-
People don't want to hear it but he's probably back next season unless the whole team revolts.
-
I would have been okay with that too but it's probably best we don't throw him to the wolves just yet. I'm hoping he has a great camp though.
-
Weren't you one of the people saying we should force Rhule to start Sam and let him get us a top 5 pick? At one point that was a fairly common take amongst those who didn’t want a QB in the draft. Most with common sense poured cold water on that though.
