  1. After what we witnessed last season defensively I think you're going to have a very tough time selling people on this because the body of work isn’t lining up with the hype. At this point the onus is on Evero to prove his viability.
  2. Looking like we'll be drafting for need on the DL. Not sure a desperate Dan Morgan is a good thing.
  3. I look forward to seeing Darnold meltdown as a Seahawk. All the same good for him.
  4. It was a tough position for us to be in. I'm not really angry about it I like Jaycee. I would rather have him than not. But there is the very real reality and possibility that a contract this size given his injury history could become an albatross for us. There's also the reality that our defense was dead last in rushing yards. We seem to be prioritizing building the defense backwards from the way the rest of the successful teams have. I'll just have to see what we do for the rest of free agency and the draft. I said all along this could be one of the most consequential offseasons in many years. Dan Morgan is going to make or break us for good. I'd certainly obviously much rather he be successful. But I've seen similar stories play out here over the years as a tortured Panthers fan. Time will tell.
  5. I mean it could work out in our favor. I'm not saying it's impossible. I just don't know this is the ideal place for any reclamation projects. Let's rewind real quick about our other trade acquisitions of young talent we hoped to turn into gold. Robbie Anderson CJ Henderson Laviska Shenault. That's fool me three times right there. And at some point if you work in the Panthers front office you have to adjust to reality that if this franchise is going to alter trajectory in a big way it's going to be by drafting very very well for at least a few years. That's just my POV though.
  6. Looking at other teams failures instead of drafting your own studs? Man I've tried to be optimistic about Dan Morgan but this is way too reminiscent of Scott Fitterer.
  7. 32 out of 32 in run defense and the Panthers are apparently looking to build from the outside in.
  8. I get the sentiment with this franchise I really do. But I don't think it's fair to compare him to Ian. I don't think Tommy has earned that kind of rep here. And he's only 24. Let's at least see what he brings to the table in the upcoming season and go from there.
  9. I'm not crazy about the Tremble contract but I will say I believe in him becoming more than I ever have with Ian Thomas. If he's going to turn a corner it will be with Canales. We'll see.
  10. I mean I want a really successful sports franchise as much as the next fan but there are limits. See Britt Reid. Some stains don't wash off bud.
  11. Now we play the waiting game to see how long he stays healthy.
  12. I wouldn't be against it for depth on a lower end deal. But do we want to keep going backwards? We need some young promising talent on this DL to pair with Derrick Brown.
  13. The core of my point beyond comparing coaches was my own personal opinion that just being average in this conference is overrated from my perspective. All I've known is losing in the Charlotte area growing up here. That's this sports town. I just laugh at it. If we aren't legitimately competing for a championship and bragging rights over the rest of this division then honestly I don't much give a poo. Mediocre to average doesn't move the needle for me anymore. Already lived it. Now as far as where we are now comparing coaches. Since you brought him up I'm going to have to do something I really really do not like and that is praise Sean Payton. We all despised him with a passion for years but his resume IMO is better than Pete Carroll's and unequivocally deserves to be regarded as one of the best of the era. I don't like it one bit. But that's the truth. Canales future is directly dependent on Morgan's ability to successfully build a roster via the draft. Any coach would be doomed if Dan continues down Fitterer’s path. This is going to be one of our most consequential offseasons in years.
  14. Let's be forthright here. I never said Carroll is a bad coach. Never said he isn't a good coach. I'm guessing you took issue with me saying he's not been all that strikingly different from Ron Rivera the last several years. Well that's not a lie. That's where the disconnect begins. One of the best of the era? Based on what? Winning one of the most comically and pathetically lopsided Super Bowls in decades? No sir Doug Pederson has as many Super Bowl trophies as Pete Carroll. I suppose we should make room for him up there on your coaching Mt Rushmore. As far as Canales. Let me be direct. I like him based on what I've seen and I have high hopes for him but he's gotta hit the ground running this season and the standards I've discussed here very obviously apply to both him and Bryce Young and I think you should know as well as anyone here I'm not going to give either of them a pass for shitty football. There's no excuse not to be competitive in this conference and particularly in this division.
  15. Mike Macdonald walked right in and won as many games as Pete Carroll has in the last ten years. The NFC has weakened drastically over that same decade. That's just the reality. Being "average" in this rendition of the NFC is not a badge of honor. It's the bare minimum. Even that slob Matt Rhule briefly looked halfway competent early on. Again. It sounds like you definitely are high on Pete Carroll via whatever affiliation you have I do not know I honestly don't care. But that doesn't require me to share your viewpoint. It's fine to disagree without whatever all this is. Especially over Pete Carroll of all people.
