Former Panthers QB Cam Newton to be throwing at Auburn's Pro Day
frankw replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just don't think it's that serious. He's not going to be a starter again. Might as well let the man have a little fun with it. I actually feel kind of bad for him it's gotta be a tough situation. But I'm glad his brother is offering support that's what family is supposed to do. -

You got all that from a 28 second clip? -

They both have a point. Hopefully Cam finds a team willing to give him a chance. But if not hopefully he finds some inner peace and moves onto the next phase of his life. He has nothing to be ashamed of either way. -
Oh the Texans are definitely playing the game too. As someone else pointed out the timing of our trade after the combine is difficult to ignore. Can't say one way or another but I'm sure they are eager to see the pro days and get the interview process going. Until then I will regard most of this talk of one prospect a near certainty as just noise. Fitterer already told us in the interview they are just now diving into everything. Things can change within the next 3 weeks.

BB can often be that way but I'm not sure what his intentions are I have not seen him say anything personally derogatory like that one guy did. Obviously that I don't agree with. Though to play devils advocate we here on the huddle have been known to habitually eviscerate the likes of David Newton and Joe Person so it's not like this is uncommon on the whole. Scheft and Rap do get things wrong from time to time we've been critical of them too

The conundrum is if we take Young and Stroud looks like a stud for Houston. Of course the same applies vice versa. As for this talk of OSU QB's not panning out the same has often been said for Bama QB's until recently so before anyone falls back on that one just food for thought. Both could end up being very good who knows.

For sure some do have legit sources but they are fewer and far between and information can be unreliable and also circumstances can change. To my recollection the final chapter of the Deshaun Watson to Carolina saga left several folks with claims of sources in our local market with egg on their faces. After that I take most of these claims with a dose of skepticism. That's just the state of sports "journalism".

I'm fine with either of the top two but I find it very hard to believe they are all in on their pick this early. And the NFL does not like the pick being tipped so this belief the front office is leaving a trail of breadcrumbs because they're bored is amusing. Some folks in the media are being manipulated.

Well we know how this ends. But if it makes him happy do your thing Cam it's all love. Plus the sight of him just existing ruffles the feathers of some here endlessly. I'll kick back and enjoy the entertainment. -
They know exactly what to say and if they are saying certain things it's for a reason. This is all gamesmanship. We aren't going to know who the true pick is from a press conference. We can argue over which QB is preferable but there's no point going at each other over these comments. Anyone that has followed the draft before should be familiar with it by now.

Well he was also there when the OL went to dogshit around that same QB that led to him leaving town so hopefully learned a lesson if Bryce becomes the #1 pick.

Former Panthers QB: “No doubt in my mind” they pick Bryce Young
frankw replied to Cary Kollins's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk if anything they are similar weight. Young clearly has much more talent than him but both are going to be susceptible to injuries that could affect their career length if they don't add some weight. Not sure why this is a controversial notion but ohwell. -
It's structured to benefit us I'm not too worried about it. But we need to hit on another WR in the draft. If it's me I still take one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

25 million is a good chunk of change. Everyone and their momma knew we were desperate. That's the downside to trading away your best wideout.

I'm just ribbing you a bit man it's fine to be wrong 🫶

Solid signing all things considered. He brings much needed leadership. I think he'll do big things for us especially in the red zone too. I still want us to make a run at another WR though.

Well Thielen is a Panther. So much for those inside sources I guess.

How Carolina can / has already Improved the Passing Game
frankw replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
One part of me says no way the other says we just shipped off a 25 year old WR who was our most productive in years. I see us beginning to go down the path of overinvesting in defense again. There's still time though. We'll just have to see what Fitterer and Reich have planned.
