BJ Ojulari is scheduled to visit the #Panthers
Bear Hands replied to CAPantherFan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's definitely a chance either Tyrique Stevenson, Julius Brents, or Cam Smith are there at 39. Deonte Banks is trending up but someone's gotta be there. Those are the CBs for discussion and I am weighing a bit more than EDGE or 34DE. Honestly, T. Stevenson would be a fantastic fit and is probably my #39 wishlist frontrunner. He can play NB, outside, and PR. -

I'd have him higher than Felix, Adebawore, Foskey. -

He'd be a great pick at 39. There is a large chunk in the 25-50 range I think will be perfect for us to find a great fit. This draft is not star top heavy, but the first round grades continue into the 40s IMO. EDGE wise, here's one of the higher upside guys. Fringe 1st eval, but likely a 2nd rounder. -
Chris Creamer just splooging rumors too soon

A Different Perspective on the Young vs Stroud Decision
Bear Hands replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't quite agree with the notion that Young is this obviously better QB if he was taller. I don't agree he'd be this runaway #1 if they were both 6'3. Young may have shown more composure & creativity out-of-structure (this year's newly pegged term), but if you can do something once, you can do it again and Stroud showed growth and game in the biggest moments. At the end of the day, what I really want isn that accuracy+arm combination with the least amount of red flags. That is simply Stroud. Now, I'm not concerned with Bryce's height, I'd be thrilled with him, but this notion that CJ is a high floor/low ceiling type is just shallow. When you're that accurate with an NFL-level/non-Pennington arm, the sky is the limit. -
Could also blow the lid off this draft if the Texans aren't goo-goo gaga over Stroud. Ryans may want a *potential monster like Anderson. Then that could throw AZ into a tizzy without their expected man there. Could trade down w/SEA for example. And the Colts would still be screwed hehe. 1-CAR Bryce Young 2-HOU Will Anderson 3-SEA (from AZ) CJ Stroud Now THAT, that would be wild.

The fact we met with JuJu Brents and Mingo makes me really excited. Both some of my favorite CB and WR targets alongside Deonte Banks and Tyler Scott respectively. Those are two guys I’ve looked at and wondered why they aren’t deemed higher picks. Maybe the FO wants to find out something similar and if they’re truly promising targets

Young VS Stroud, the greatest Panthers debate ever?
Bear Hands replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's all quite fun. Just don't take it or your opinions too seriously, it's all out of our control. We're almost there -
Chinn confirms he'll be playing more LB (closer to the line)
Bear Hands replied to B_Eazi's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the setup is actually nice. If he can play ILB with Luvu OLB in base (20-30% of snaps), but then is Big Nickel most of the other time with some box safety sprinkled in, he plays 95%+ of our snaps easy. Luvu will basically be floating between inside and outside which I think is fine. -
Yes.

Between the uncertainty with him and the injury bug with Chark, I'd like to think one works out in our favor. Would still be nice to draft a guy with decent upside like Tyler Scott or Jonathan Mingo in the mid rounds.

Peter King: Panthers have no interest in trading #1 pick
Bear Hands replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Now that's just weird. Don't know if that or the Strong guy are more strange. -

If we do go Young, it makes me wonder if Houston likes Stroud enough or if they'd suddenly start listening for calls. Both Caserio & Ryans are coming from teams that's recent 1st round QB didn't really work out. Going Bryce could shake up the whole draft. -
Yeah, totally, I just don't see him playing for them in any capacity moving forward though and they need a QB. The bridge has collapsed. If BAL lands the 8th (ATL), 11th (TEN), 16th (WAS), or 19th (TB) pick this year for Lamar, they become a team to watch.

I have a gut feeling Young is the guy. -
I find the Ravens vacancy more interesting than Lamar's destination. They don't have a ton of picks after having a crap ton last year (11 rookie 22' class) Do they become a sleeper team to get Levis if he falls? I do think a squad takes a gamble on Hooker in the late first. Clubs are higher on him than the online peeps.

Watch him technically stay in Maryland. Could be playing at FedEx field soon.

People keep saying Stroud had better weapons--in 2022, yes but 2021 Young had Metchie & Jameson Williams. Two potential studs who just haven't been healthy in the NFL yet. Godspeed to Metchie coming back from cancer treatment this year. And the interesting thing is that his stats still held true when the studs left. He managed very identical numbers 2021 to 2022, Y/A (8.9 to 8.8) and AY/Y (10.0 to 9.9). Rating 167.5 to 163.2. 66.9% to 64.5% completion rates. TDs and yards were down but it was off of 3 less games so it's really close. He also took plenty of big hits in the pocket and got right up. His only injury in college was due to a weird angle he got tackled at that strained his shoulder. Stroud had more variance year to year which is indicative of the WRs on the team having a greater effect on him, but I mean, it was the best WR room in CFB so of course they'll have an effect. However after Wilson & Olave left, S-N was out all season, it was just MH Jr. & Egbuka. Yeah, still better supporting cast, but 2021 was supremely better. His completion rates were still higher than Bryce and what's even more impressive is that his avg y/a were around an entire yard higher than Young. CJ is damn accurate. The short: They're both damn good

Good Question.. What type of edge do you want..
Bear Hands replied to Sub Zero's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Isaiah McGuire is being severely underrated. He's got the frame and build to be an all-around edge defender. 6'4 268, 4.76 40, has really good potential at run-d but just needs to get coached up. Has a great blend of traits and a relentless motor. He always seems to be pushing back the defender. Strong burst and knockbacks. Just quick at the first move. Needs to work on his counters and bend but I think he'd be a really nice 4th round option. -

Adebawore's size may raise questions for exactly where he goes but that dude balls out. Him & Felix are really promising.
