  1. No one really knows what transpired. Even if Cam was unhappy with his current contract situation and wanted an extension that doesn't mean he wouldn't have played on the last year of his contract. I don't see Cam ever holding out over a contract dispute so instead, they released him. Look at the Texans and how defiant they were about letting Watson leave even with a new regime coming in. Granted Watson is in a different spot career wise but Cam was only going to make just over $20 mill. They could have dug in and held their ground if they wanted too, but they didn't want to. Tepper didn't want Cam Newton to be his Qb any longer because he has so much confidence in himself he thought we'd easily replace our Franchise Qb with poo like Teddy, and that just isn't going to get the job done Bottom line is, we had our guy in the building. Sure he was coming off injury but I would have rather taken a chance with Cam for 1 year returning to form in a stacked offense rather than bringing in a guy like Teddy every single year in hopes we finally get someone worthy enough to replace the guy we let walk out of the door. Relying on FA Qbs to become what they've never been, "Franchise Qbs," is a worse strategy than hoping your former MVP returns to form. Regardless of the contract Cam would still be here if they wanted him here. They didn't. Welcome Sam Darnold!!
  2. Career #'s are no better than what Teddy's was last year when he came to us. The problem with this whole thing is we are once again banking on a guy to become something he has never been. Just like we did with Teddy last year. Part of that problem is we are essentially getting a rookie Qb without the 4 year + option year contract which is actually really valuable. This is my problem with this franchise and the decisions they made to put us into this position and I just can't ignore the fact we allow a former NFL MVP, proven franchise Qb to walk out of the door so we can constantly sign retreads and pray to the football Gods they transform into a player they have never been before and are pretty much no longer on a rookie deal. Instead of you know, giving the guy one season to see if HE can still be the player we needed him to be but yet here we are. One year after the decision to move on from Cam and this is the position we find ourselves in, in the exact same position as last year with a new FA addition at Qb with no solid plan in place to get better at the position we are essentially throwing poo at the wall to see if it sticks. Yikes. What if we pass on a Qb at 8 and Darnold turns out to be TB 2.0? What a poo show this will turn out to be. But anyways the past is the past best of luck to Darnold he legit has every opportunity to succeed here, just like TB did last year. Hopefully he can come in and be better than he has been in the NFL thus far but I won't be holding my breath.
  3. Doesn't deserve to own an NFL Franchise and doesn't have a clue what he's doing but damn he sure does have a lot of money.
  4. The right thing to do would be retire the # of the greatest Qb thats ever played for this franchise. I expect Tepper to do the complete opposite though. I also think that any Panthers player inducted into the Hall of Honor should potentially have their Jersey retired for at least a little while.
  5. My post had absolutely nothing to do with Deshaun Watson. Other than the fact we shouldn't even be at this point with the most important position on the team but hey David Tepper is going to be David Tepper and that's pretty much that. As far as the Rhule hiring goes. Still more of a questionable hire than the "slam dunk" most people are pretending that he is. So far he is a 5-11 Head coach and until he does better that is what he is.
  6. Reap what you sow. The reason we are in this position is because of David Tepper. Every move he's made so far has blown up in his face. I have no faith in him being a successful owner in the NFL. Hope im wrong but so far its not looking like it
  7. You seem a little upset/frustrated man. Maybe go play some Madden so you can trade for Watson or any other player as much as your little heart desires
  8. Build around Watson with what? The draft picks you're trading to acquire him? Lol
  9. We can agree on this but disagree on Cam. No hard feelings
  10. Its just hilarious im being told I don't know football but these guys are trying to trade 7 first rounders for one dude. Smh
  11. Watson had 4800 yards and 37 Tds and only won 4 games. Thats proof right there that even if you have a good Qb it doesn't automatically mean you make the playoffs
  12. Who put us in that position to begin with? Remember its the same guy pulling the strings and his track record isn't very promising. Whats that saying about the blind leading the blind?
  13. Watson just threw for 4800 yards 33 TDs to 7 INTs. He also ran for 450 yards and 4 more TDs. How many wins did that net Houston? 4 wins. Those stats are comparable to Cam's MVP year in which we won 15 games. DeShaun won 4. Now he's supposed to come to Carolina to a similar team (5-11) and all of a sudden they are a perennial playoff team without a first round pick for the next 5 years? That just doesn't make sense to me. But hey if it happens I hope the team is more successful than the last Qb decision it made. What a disaster that turned out to be
  14. When you are a 5-11 team you are not 1 player away anywhere on the field. You guys really are living in fairy tale land
  15. Trading 4-5 first round talents + more (probably would equate to 6 or 7 first rounder when all is said and done) IS mortgaging the future for ONE player. Look at the season DeShaun just had and it still wasn't enough for them to make the playoffs.
  16. This actually doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They hired Rhule to build a program from the ground up. He is a team builder. Mortgaging the future on one guy just doesn't seem to fit that narrative at all. I get DeShaun is close to a top 5 QB if not already but look at the year he just had. Pretty damn good year and it still wasn't enough for Houston to make the playoffs. The Panthers just went 5-11. They aren't anywhere close to being "one player away" from being a SB contender. Adding DeShaun while neutering Rhule and his "program rebuild skills" by trading away 4-5 1st rounders + more doesn't seem like the best recipe for success.
  17. No one said he had a great season in 2020. You are just a dumbass unfortunately
  18. This team is incredibly frustrating to watch
  19. Don't let thinks? Sorry bud there's a bit of drool on your chin can't quite make out what you're saying. Would you like to try again?
  20. Pats had such an amazing set of WRs/TEs last season that they are replacing almost all of them this offseason! I mean how stupid are the people that post on this board? Holy poo
  21. Shall we go over our ABC's next? Maybe practice coloring inside the lines? Or you cool on all that stuff as well chief?
  22. I mean Belichick is arguably the greatest HC of all time so yes? Why are you asking such a stupid question? Are you really siding with posters like mrcompletely11? Actually respected you as a poster on this forum. That's a big yikes from me man
  23. How does his contract this year compare to last year? Looks like the same deal to me (Cam started 15 games last year in case you forgot) except more money than last year. Bill is essentially giving him a mulligan for last year because he understands his starting Qb didn't have an offseason and hardly any help at the skill positions last year. He's giving Cam a legitimate opportunity this time around what is so hard to understand about that? You really think Cam signed to NE to be the backup QB? L-O-L.
  24. Oh I do care. I just don't care about the opinions of people who drool all over their keyboard before hitting the "Submit Reply" button
