Build up the hope then they kick you in the nuts
WhoKnows replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve been saying it all preseason that I’m waiting until the show something before I feel the need to be hopeful. Not a good start when the first 7 games seemed like our easy part. The Jets game no longer seems like a gimme and Atlanta and Arizona look better. Miami may be on our level, but I see 4-13 as a decent chance of being our results. -
I’m sorry man but I’m still not 100% sold on him. He clearly is our best WR but that’s not saying much. My worry is still separating. He got no space on the almost TD. In college he can make those contested catches but it’s not the same in the pros. Easy TD if he’s got even a little separation, but the CB was able to grab his left arm around his back. Thats how close the CB was. I think he’ll be our #1, but I need to see more separation to feel like he was worth pick 8.

We kept thinking he’d be awesome filling our LBs with studs and with draft picks and FAs, this may be the worst LB corps we’ve ever seen before. Wasn’t real impressed with any of his D additions. We needed to clean house in 2022, not just Rhule. Rhule sucked as a coach but he was basically out the door after 2021. Fitterer and his crew (Morgan including) are the real reason we aren’t close to competitive anymore. They truly decimated this roster.

Two long TDs if Bryce could throw a good deep ball. -

That team was more talented. We barely lost to both #1 seeds and we started 2021 3-0 with people talking playoffs. We fell apart but that team had better players and depth. We traded Moore, CMC and Burns for basically nothing. -

Lol. So true. They were even saying how rough Bryce has been to start every year. Somehow we think that keeping our offense vanilla to hide our secrets is more important than our players clearly being out of sync to start every year. Our last 3 week 1s with Bryce: Lost/Losing by a score of 91-23 Bryce 1 TD and 5 INTs, 1 Fumble lost, 121 yards passing per game Seeing as how much better he’s been at the end of the season, it boggles the mind as to why we don’t play more in preseason. We’ve been miles from the playoffs, work on what Bryce needs to work on in preseason. -

I think the only bright spot is that I think more people are laughing at Daniel Jones bitch slapping Miami. Miami may be worse than us. Maybe… -

Somehow we still get told that we are building something special. It’s pretty obvious that Bryce isn’t going to ever be close to worth what we gave up. It’s pretty obvious that we really haven’t moved on from the Fitterer stink. It’s pretty obvious that XL at almost 25 years old will never be worth a late 1st. It’s pretty obvious that we don’t know how to scout and still routinely make bad mistakes like thinking Corbett can stay healthy and is a good center. -

Is Nick Scott 21? If so, hmm. -

What game are you watching? The DB was right there. He has every right and got to the ball before XL. That was absolutely not PI. Bad throw and Bryce didn’t see that guy at all. Forces it when he had a cake 1st down. -

What? The ball was seriously under thrown. The ball hit the helmet and hands of the defender who was beat easily. Hunter had ho chance. Maybe TMac is tall enough to reach over the defender’s head but coming down with ball would have been almost impossible. -

LBers and Safeties look like the hole we thought they’d be. -
I don’t see how Young will ever be worth what we gave up. The 2024 QB class at a glance already seems miles ahead of 2023’s and we gave up the 1st overall pick in 2024. We gave up Jalen Carter when we needed DL help. We gave up DJ Moore and 2 more 2nd round picks. Young may end up being OK but he’s not going to be a top 5 elite QB. Fitterer fuged everything all up by not trading Burns, CMC, Moore and others in 2022 to tank as hard as we could to get pick 1 or 2 so we only used 1 pick for the QB and still had 3 more firsts (GB offered pick 15 in 2023 for Moore) and a second and not lost any of “our” picks.

It’s a good victory now but this Alabama team had no business being ranked 8th. They were 9-4 last year and got worse at QB. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if they finish with 4 or 5 losses again and their schedule isn’t terrible.
-
Terrible. Texas has had 4 or 5 drives that started near midfield and have nothing. OSU is defending champs but they lost 14 players in the draft, including a ton on the DL. It looks like they don’t trust the heisman favorite. Maybe this is why he couldn’t beat out Ewers. Maybe he’ll pick it up but damn this is his third year in college. It feels like a game plan when you have to start a freshman or third stringer due to injuries.
-
HFS. We got offered more for Burns and people were happy we turned it down only to get a 2nd and change a year later. SMH, it was so damn obvious that we should have made the deal. Burns has never taken over games like Parsons has.
-
That’s the definition of a one player away fan. We aren’t in the playoffs this year unless Tampa shits the bed and a losing record takes the South so spending our entire cap is bad. Roll it over so when we are competitive we can sign a couple studs and go for it. A 5-12 team with a lot more than one hole is not that.
-
Who cares about year 4 and 5th year option? The only elite QB who hadn’t proved himself by year 3 was Aaron Rodgers. First, Young isn’t him/doesn’t have an HOFer in front of him and second, Young doesn’t need a one year player as a security blanket. If he’s the guy, he needs to elevate his WRs in year 3.
-
Again, Theilen wasn’t playing for us in 2026 so why do we want Young looking to him? We have so much draft capital used in Young, TMac and XL. We need to actually make that work or we are going to be poo a lot longer than expected.
-
If the WRs are trash without a year rental of AT, we have bigger issues because we still need 2 solid ones in future drafts and because Young couldn’t elevate them. We need to evaluate the WRs as much as Young. AT takes away opportunities from the young WRs.
-
My thought exactly. We basically got a 4th for a one year rental when we aren’t a playoff contender. If we can’t overcome the loss with the young guys then we have big issues. We’ve invested 4 1sts (3 top 10), 2 2nds, DJ Moore into $150M in OL FAs into this passing game. That’s 90% of our draft and FA capital into Young. We damn well better be fine without AT or we are ways away from competing.
-
We basically got a 4th. The 2026 5th is worth the same as a 2027 5th plus a 2026 7th (which is worth almost nothing). I’m sure Theilen is happy but getting a 4th ain’t bad. I am still amazed at how much people feel we lost a player who wasn’t getting us to the playoffs and was going to take reps from the guys we need to be better.
-
They got a good deal being a potential playoff team in need. We basically got a 4th (rest of the picks basically cancel out). That’s not bad for trading a 1 more year player on a not so playoff potential team.
-
I’m fine ride or die. We had Theilen for 2025 and then he’s gone. We get to move up to better picks and the young guys get their opportunity. I do find it laughable that Theilen not being here might stunt Young’s growth. JFC, for all the guys who think Morgan is doing a great job, we’ve give up 2023 pick 9, 2024 pick 1, 2024 pick 32 and 2025 pick 8. If Adam Theilen being gone makes our passing offense go to poo after spending 3 top 10 picks and another 1st rounder, then we best fire the entire coaching and front office and start our rebuild the right way in 2026.
