  1. I’ve been done with him ever since we passed on Humphrey for him. He hasn’t been able to get separation since day one. Announcers said that Bears CB was the most picked on CB and he’s blanketing TMJ. I’m still laughing at people saying he’d be a 1000 yard WR.
  2. What? If Reich told a Colts beat writer who he liked at QB, knowing the Colts needed a QB and we had a pick 5 picks after, that is about the stupidest thing Reich can do. Hopefully, he was just blowing smoke. Again, we didn’t have the number 1 pick until a month after the combine.
  3. WTF would anyone think we should keep Fitterer? The amount of bad moves he has made have been ridiculous.
  4. I chuckled even though I was thinking the same thing before reading the thread. Kudos on the delivery!
  5. Yep. If you do that, CMC should be gone but we only made the one move that got us the least and then tossed in Moore for way less to get the Young deal done. We half assed it as usual and did it all wrong.
  6. CMC’s deal was east to afford. SF got 4 years out of him at a little over $10M per. It was very reasonable for us as well considering the sunk costs were gone. I was fine with the trade itself because I was assuming we were actually doing a rebuild. Nope. We decided a 1st (pick 15) from GB wasn’t enough for Moore and two 1sts and a 2nd was not enough for Burns. In 19 games with ST (basically 18 as he barely played his first), CMC has 2154 yards and 23 TDs. We only have 12 offensive TDs this year. If we traded CMC, Moore and Burns last season knowing we weren’t competing for until rookie QB’s 3rd/4th year. I would have said sweet to saving/rolling over $120M in cap for 2025/2026 and having 2 1sts in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and 2 extra 2nds in 2023. Instead we trade the guy who saves us the least cap, is the most elite at his position of the 3 and got us the least return in draft picks. Well, we ended up getting way less for Moore in the Young trade than GB offered but that’s because Fitt is a horrible GM.
  7. Not sure the defense deserves a lot more credit. They have been legitimately bad in a lot of games not just because of turnovers by the offense. I think the total yards is skewed a bit by the fact that we are almost always behind and very often out of the game. Teams aren’t piling up passing yards and garbage time stats because there’s no need. It’s not our amazing secondary locking people down. When teams are running out the clock against us they aren’t piling up yards. The defense has had its moments and certainly hasn’t been the biggest issue but teams have not had a hard time scoring against us when they needed to score.
  8. Umm, have you been paying attention? We have been saying F them picks for Fitt’s tenure. We gave up 2nd, 4th and 6th for Darnold, 3rd for CJ, 5th for Mayfield, 3rd and 4th for Corral, 3rd and 4th (CMC) for DJ Johnson and 1st, 1st, 2nd (CMC), 2nd and DJ Moore for Young. All we have for that is Young. The Burns trade was a freaking bounty and there is no scenario to reject. There have been multiple FAs available every year that have put up 9-10+ sacks. Could have signed Floyd or traded for Sweat or Chase this year. We also let Reddick go ourselves. $30M a year gets us Sweat plus Floyd like yearly rentals. Then those 2 1sts and pick 36 can become offensive weapons or get you a QB.
  9. Fitt should have gone with Rhule. It would have been nice to have a realistic we need to actually rebuild GM who would have taken the Burns trade. The talent drop off from 2020 is remarkable how bad Fitt has been and that 2020 team was gutted from losing Cam, Luke, Olsen, Bradberry and other vets. Scary to see how many wasted draft picks we will have made or traded away the past few years. Anyway, talent aside, I was actually optimistic as well. Cautious after being burned by Rhule/Hurney, but when they made preseason look like we were competing, it really looks bad now. I mean if you wanted to be vanilla so NO and Atlanta do see anything special, there better be some special weeks 1 and 2. Instead the team looked like they were lost on the way to 1-7. The coaches and GM clearly thought we were better than we were otherwise you aren’t trading the farm and keeping one player instead of a bounty. If they understood we weren’t that talented they should have made the preseason more about getting as many reps as possible. That Reich comment after Bates’ two interceptions made me cringe. Actually acting like they hadn’t taught Young that defenders can cheat? He played at the top level in college. You can’t tell me CBs/Ss never cheated or watched QBs to anticipate and cut off a route. That one comment blew me away because it completely invalidated the be vanilla and don’t show much in preseason.
  10. What? Rams strategy? No, I wouldn’t follow their strategy because we don’t have a window and because they gave up way too much value. It worked for the SB win, but gutted their team although they did better with their late picks this year than we did with most of our non-1st round picks. Puca was a steal and is way better than the 2nds we threw at TMJ and Mingo. Anyway, what does the Rams strategy have to do with us? I want to be Jacksonville and Detroit who improved from doormats thanks to getting all the picks from the Rams. Also, let’s be real. Having CMC, Moore, our 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, pick 61 and $30M a year in FA money over Burns makes us a way better team. Just stop trying to defend not making that trade, it’s silly at this point. Burns is tied for 24th in sacks right now. The whole edge rushers are so rare isn’t true. We could have grabbed Sweat and Young on the cheap if we wanted too as well.
  11. Had we traded Burns, we easily could have kept CMC and Moore and gotten a trade up for Stroud, darn it, Young. The two Rams’ 1sts and pick 36 were enough to go from 9 to 1 with nothing else. If you look at past trades like the Rams trading up from 15 (way worse than 9), we gave up too much value. Rams gave up pick 15, two 2nds and one 3rd in the same draft and the next year’s 1st and 3rd. We gave up pick 9, one 2nd in the same draft, next year’s 1st, 2025 2nd and DJ Moore. We were offered pick 15 (same value as basically first two picks of the 2nd round) from GB for Moore last year, but based on the Rams trade we gave him up for a 2nd and a 3rd. The other issue besides getting crappy value for Moore is that the Rams went from 15 to 1 when we went from 9 to 1 and the difference there is a late 2nd as well. You also know that Chicago desperately wanted out of the top pick because they didn’t want a QB. We did them a favor and still gave them more (two 2nds) than we should have and took the riskiest QB.
  12. My son still wants to go to a game but I’d almost rather not go to the Dallas game. It’ll be all Dallas fans and I have no interest in watching us give up 42 like we did to Miami and Detroit. Even if it’s a sucky game, I’d rather watch us beat Ridder or maybe Carr. Who knows. He won’t decide and man Sunday was not fun. I think he might be broken for the year now.
  13. Remember when some of us were really concerned about the OL play in preseason but we were told oh it doesn’t matter it’s just trying out plays and blah, blah. Well, here we are. Also, I remember that play distinctly because one of the replays was from the end zone camera and it just looked like a white wall. It’s almost rare when all rushers beat their OL handily. The current team so far from competing and unfortunately, we won’t get our Cam or Peppers out of winning 1 or 2 games. The Bears will.
  14. There were tweets on all four of the prospects. Young was the the most often, but there were guys who said Reich loved Richardson, Stroud and Young, which conflict with each other. We’ll never actually know because you don’t even know what tweets are for clicks and who the insiders are and whether or not they were sending out false messages. All I know is that we appear to have done something wrong and I have a really hard time thinking that an all star coaching staff including Reich would let an owner choose the QB for them.
  15. I wish I wasn’t there with you but yesterday was awful. The second pick 6 and Young’s jump throw made me really feel like the height will always be an issue. Also, the first pick 6 was the same. The angle of the throw made it go right over Sanders to a defender a few yard behind him. I felt like week 1 that he couldn’t see Bates on at least one of the interceptions. We know he doesn’t have a cannon and has no weapons outside Theilin but I do feel like we’re going to try and build around him and he’ll never be that guy and we’ll have a decade of under .500 seasons before our next try.
  16. So Reich and Stroud rumors are based only on McCown? I’m happy to read something else but Fitt and Reich linked to Stroud never crossed my path in all the discussions/articles/tweets. Young was all over the place and I do remember Richardson being the surprise contender but outside of McCown, it seemed like we eliminated Stroud.
  17. McCown liking Stroud and asking him to play a pickup game in Charlotte doesn’t mean Reich had him above Young. Teams looking for QBs almost always have quotes about QBs that could be construed that way. Wilks said nice stuff about Josh Allen. He probably said nice stuff about Mayfield, Darnold and Rosen too as I’m sure they looked at all four of them and did dinners and pro days/visits. You posted the same thing that Stroud called Nicole Mama Tepp. Heck, we said nice things about Pickett, Willis, Corral and likely others the year before. Reich is on record saying he and Fitt were in lock step with their “proposal” pre-draft. Don’t care about McCown. Where were the rumors about the Stroud love from Reich himself? Again, I remember pre-draft articles saying Reich liked Richardson almost as much as Young, but nothing from Reich himself on Stroud. The Richardson talk with Reich was interesting because it made it seem like Stroud wasn’t in the mix as we got closer to the draft.
  18. Yep and CMC having the Diggs breakaway capability makes Allen think a dump off to CMC could be big. His biggest issue IMHO isn’t just turnovers but not just taking a 4 yard play on 3rd and 3. If you have confidence in your RB and know he could take it to the house, that simple play is no longer “just a dump off”, it’s a get the ball into Diggs like hands to let them make a huge play. Look at what CMC has done for Purdy. I watched a few games last year and CMC opened up the middle of the field like crazy. You could see Purdy not throwing great balls as the season progressed but he was throwing to wide open guys because CMC sucked coverage to him and the OL blocked. When Purdy is forced to win games due to their D being meh this year, he’s not shining.
  19. I will always say that the Bills completely fuged up not trading for CMC. Their running game works sometimes when the D is fooled. The RBs are not really big safety valves. I think Allen would flourish with CMC because he is always trying for the huge play and CMC is a huge play waiting to happen even on dump offs. Gabe Davis is fine but until the last couple games with Kincaid it was still always Diggs that Allen relied on for big plays. CMC would have kept the Ds more honest and given Allen a serious threat so that he’d force a 20-30 yard pass on 3rd and 2 way less.
  20. When did the rumors about CJ Stroud and Reich come about? I distinctly remember articles where Reich and Fitt were both on Young as the top and I do recall hearing that while Reich liked Young the best, he also liked Richardson a lot before the draft. I remember this because it seemed like Stroud was out of the equation really early whether or not McCown wanted to play hoops with him. It seems to me that Reich preferring Stroud didn’t happen until well into the season after Young was meh, Richardson got hurt the first time and Stroud had a few great games, when the seats starting getting warm. I truly don’t think Tepper forced Young on everybody. His point guard quotes came a couple months after Brown’s point guard mentions and as you said, Fitt in the draft process mentioning they had already zeroed in on Young a year before the draft and Fitt and Reich crowed about how sync they were at the start and end of their decisions again with no mention of Tepper at that point. People jumped on Tepper’s post draft interview explaining the choice of Young and the trading of Moore, which IMHO was spitting back out the reasonings Fitt and Co. gave him. Even the meetings with Frank were no big deal to me because that to me was a come to Jesus of why are we worse than Rhule and Wilks when he was promised a contender now that we had our QB. That said, I don’t want Tepper making any future decisions either. Between Hurney staying, Rhule and Fitt hiring and Fitt staying, he’s bungled they key calls. If he’s helped out on personnel decisions, well he’s sucked there too.
  21. Agreed. I’d love for him to blossom but we’ve got such large issues it’s disheartening as a fan. Not having what is now the #1 pick* in 2024 or our 2nd in 2025, we are well behind the 8-ball. The OL appears to have seriously regressed so it feels like we have no strengths. We’ve had so few draft picks because of our other trades as well, so very little young talent who could become impact starters. Maybe Mingo and that’s it. *Arizona is 1-8 (no bye yet) but we win tiebreaker if we finish with same number of wins.
  22. I don’t think I’d boo him at all, but we are 1-7 after being told in the offseason (before preseason games) that we’d be competitive, we traded away CMC and Moore for peanuts and we don’t even have our 1st round pick, which looks like our best pick since Cam. Being 1-7 after Rhule is really bad. It’s not surprising that there’s a ton of frustration because it doesn’t feel like when Cam started with us. I don’t care if Young might be good down the road, he lost the game for us yesterday against a mediocre team and the interceptions were bad. They felt like he was jumping and throwing to his check downs without being able to see them.
  23. So who do you think we’ll trade Young to where he’ll become great and who will be our Rivers?
  24. Agree completely. Rhule didn’t have CMC for many games and didn’t have the “fixed” OL, it felt more competitive until the team got to the we can’t make the playoffs point. Look at what we did with Wilks to Detroit and what they did to us even though we “fixed” the QB hole. I remember joking in the preseason hot takes that Reich would make us miss Rhule. It’s feeling like that wasn’t a joke.
