  1. So, you bailed on the Jets for incompetence and doing their former franchise QB dirty and you landed on... the Panthers? Whew boy... who wants to break the news to him?
  2. It would make a LOT of sense for the Titans IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if the wheels start falling off of Henry soon. That running style takes its toll. There aren't many Jerome Bettis and Jamal Lewis types that last long-term running like that. Even though Henry is only 27 and Jones is 32, they might be on similar career timelines.
  3. Jones is a 32 year old WR, but I could see them getting a 1st from a team that thinks he's the piece that puts them in the SB. I think the Ravens and Titans make the most sense in terms of their roster needs, their reasonable expectations of competing, and them being in the AFC. The Pats are the dark horse IMO. Belichick is pushing 70. He doesn't have a lot of years left.
  4. The only way we're going to know early on is if the results are bad. Just like with Teddy last year and lots of backup QBs looking good in brief stretches, a QB's best chance to look good is playing on a system where there's no or very little relevant tape available for DCs to study. If Darnold doesn't look pretty good early on its going to be a huge red flag. By Halloween we'll probably know what we have. If he starts good and is still holding strong at that point then we might be onto something.
  5. We have a poster here who followed Darnold over from the Jets. He's been beating the drum about how Darnold is going to be so good and anyone who can't see that is blind. Where's all your posts going round and round with him? You just don't realize that you tell on yourself by arguing strongly and constantly against a very small subset of opinions. The neutral sage observer act doesn't hold up.
  6. I have not insulted those who say maybe. Hell, I'm one of those guys. Granted, my "maybe" is very slim. The only people I've insulted are those who clearly have an opinion, they're just too scared to voice it.
  7. It just gets old watching some of y'all act like the guy going broke buying scratch off tickets at the corner store. He can't pay rent this month but it doesn't matter. He's gonna hit it big this time and everyone who thinks otherwise based on historical data is an idiot. The only thing that bothers me here is you constantly trying to paint me into a corner and put words in my mouth while acting like this sage neutral observer yet clearly arguing from a position of strong opinion.
  8. If you weren't so all up in your feels your reading comprehension might be better. Nowhere have I said that Darnold will definitively flop here. Everywhere I have said that's the most likely scenario. Your response has basically been that while we don't KNOW how Sam Darnold will turn out here you sure do want to argue round and round with anyone and everyone suggesting that it's likely it won't be well based on a lot of historically similar situations. You think you don't take stances on here, but you clearly do based on the opinions you argue mightily against.
  9. He's saying the same thing I am, he's just being more careful with y'all's dainty little feelings while doing it.
  10. See above for my actual first post in this thread. You sure do love to try to paint people into black and white corners while acting like you have no opinion but oddly enough vociferously arguing against certain viewpoints. My point is simple. Sam Darnold has been bad. We're banking on him making a dramatic improvement. The history of guys suddenly making a dramatic improvement with a change of scenery isn't good. That's just being realistic. Were betting on long odds here. But sure, keep doing the same mental gymanstics people did last year to convince themselves that Joe Brady was going to wave a magic wand and transform Teddy into an elite QB. I HOPE it happens with Darnold but it's highly unlikely.
  11. His poor tackling concerns me there though. That nickel is pretty key in run defense.
  12. Honestly, I'm not sure Jackson starts this year. I could see a move to nickel for him. If it happens, it'll be interesting. He's a hot head and that could go either way. He could play his ass off with a massive chip on his shoulder or he could get butthurt and pout.
  13. History is largely fact based, predictions of the future are almost entirely opinion. It's a fact that Darnold has been a bad starting QB through three seasons. A legit argument can be made that he's been the worst starting QB in the NFL over the last three seasons. Everything else about his potential play here is almost entirely opinion. Meanwhile, we have the pie in the sky holier than though homer crowd trying to claim fan superiority by engaging in mental gymanstics on how and why Darnold is going to be so much better here (even though Teddy wasn't) while their only response to the people who aren't exactly sold on that line of thinking boils down to
  14. Don't get me wrong, I wanted Fields but Fields has a BIG problem and that problems name is Matt Nagy. Dude is trash.
  15. Says the guy whose literal every post is the same damn thing. Shitting on anyone voicing an opinion while proclaiming superiority due to being unwilling to take the chance of offering an actual opinion. Your posts are useless.
  16. I think we were all in on Watson and then Stafford had a much better option. The Lions to their credit wanted to do right by him. We would've had to have offered considerably more than the Niners to get him. The Niners should be legit contenders with him.
  17. Favre was a second round pick by a team whose coach didn't want him. They traded him for a 1st after his rookie season. Delhomme was a UDFA JAG not a guy drafted and groomed to be THE guy. Brees is probably the best comp you named but he was several levels above what Darnold has been. The odds aren't impossible but they're definitely long. We're trying to get rich off a penny stock.
  18. I think we'll be done with scrap heap QBs if that happens. I think Tepper will be at the end of his patience for that approach. He's said that consistently winning in the NFL is about coach, GM, and QB. He's let Rhule dumpster dive at QB up until this point but I think he'll probably be told to target a guy and GO GET HIM if it fails again. Is there a prove vet available? If not, who's the guy in the draft we like and can go get? But no more mid-level vets who we think can take the next step or busts we think we can reform. Go all in on getting a stud.
  19. There have been two QBs I've been absolutely convinced would bust simply based on their attitude and demeanor in the press leading up to the draft - they were Josh Rosen and Paxton Lynch. Both just reeked of cockiness. Not the good type of swagger cocky, the "I'm too good to possibly fail" type of cocky.
  20. You literally said a lot of successful QBs would be considered busts if Darnold is currently considered a bust. When pushed to name names there's been nothing. We're betting on long odds. That's all I'm saying.
  21. "Shopping" him very well could mean we were just shopping for an idiot. We probably had a shoot the moon price for him and no one bit
  22. What's the point of posting if every post is implying we don't know the future (no poo) and avoiding going out on a limb with an actual opinion at all costs? I mean, is there any real argument over history being stacked against Darnold working out here? Sure, we're betting otherwise. We know that. But there's a reason why there weren't any other suitors and in my opinion we got ripped off. Everyone knew the Jets were taking Wilson and needed to move on from Darnold. There was no rush to cut a deal. There was no competition for him. We were bidding against ourselves... just like I think we probably were with Teddy last year.
  23. It's why we drafted Marshall IMO. He's similar to Robby. It's tough having two big money players in a position group.
  24. Then the only thing we disagree with is the likelihood of his success. History says it's low. Why pointing that out triggers you so much betrays your actual take. You always try to avoid going out on a limb and actually stating an opinion while making your opinion very obvious with the posts that trigger you. That's the only thing that bothers me about your posting style. Just state your opinion. It's fine if you're wrong but don't get all triggered and argumentative while acting like you don't have an opinion but oddly enough only getting triggered and argumentative about a very small subset of opinions. Just come with it. It's okay.
