Like seemingly every other player we release, it'll be interesting to see where he ends up - Washington or Buffalo.

I'm fine with KK returning on a deal that's more in line with who he is as a player these days and taking into consideration his recent injury issues.

I don't think anyone expects him to not be playing in Dallas again next year. Dak walking as a FA would be a huge shock. And honestly a huge red flag about his medical situation.
-
I hope so, but I think we may just have gotten to the point that the in-house player evaluations have been made so we're seeing a wave of moves simply due to that having been completed.
-
I think Corn could be brought back but I'm honestly not counting on it. Hoping for a big second season jump for Pride. He was pretty good for a mid-round rookie forced into a starting role.

Both moves were expected. Boston was the pleasant surprise. -
Why is it horrible to ask a question to see if you might potentially be interested? Where's the harm? This just seems like getting bent out of shape over nothing.
-
I really didn't see much difference. Maybe your expectations changed due to the contract?

Yeah, the "salary cap reasons" for waiting on Tre is likely that he's going to be designated post-June 1st.
-
I was assuming we designated it a post-June 1st. I just read that we didn't.
-
His tackling is even worse though.
-
He didn't hit the shitter. It was just like Teddy. He was who he's always been.
-
I'll be nervous if it is. Short will be one. You only have two. We need to keep one in our back pocket for Teddy if need be. If we don't, then the prospect of Teddy being our QB next year becomes very, very real and if that happens, my Sunday afternoons this fall become very open.

This is a sigh of relief IMO.

What's the 90 seconds it would take to pick up the phone and make a call?

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Honestly, I agree. At #2, you're sitting in a position to get a QB who would be the #1 overall pick in just about any draft in most other years -
I don't mind being in on every deal. "In on every deal" doesn't necessarily mean actively competing in every deal. "In" could simply mean reaching out to check the temperature. It never hurts to ask.

I think we're going to see a lot of one year deals.

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Honestly, it's something I haven't really considered either. I could see the Jets going draft with a new staff and not giving up the haul for Watson. I absolutely can't see that with the Dolphins though. They just drafted Tua in the 1st. If they make a move at QB, it'll be selling the farm for Watson. I just have the hunch that they really are sold on Tua though, for better or worse. -
IMO, he's the best salvage option if we can't trade for Watson and we can't land a QB in the draft. Unfortunately, other teams probably have that exact same thought which might drive his trade value significantly over what it should be. In that case, Trubisky might be the best bad option. If possible, I'd prefer to give up a mid-round pick for Minshew and his dirt cheap late round rookie contract as opposed to keeping our picks and signing Trubisky to a significantly more expensive deal.
-
Fitts wasn't making the decision in Seattle. We'll have to see if those same issues follow him here. Elite QBs give you an opportunity to compete. If you don't have one, you're not going to compete. 1st round picks aren't the only way to obtain talent, they were just the only way that Marty Hurney was able to obtain talent.
-
What we did spamming picks on defense last year... we can do that on the OL too. There's also free agency and there will be some surprise cap casualties. I don't expect us to be signing marquee FAs, but you don't have to spend huge money to upgrade from what we currently have.

Good Observer article on Teddy and other QB stuff
LinvilleGorge replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't think we really did a very smart thing by putting up a flashing neon billboard that we're desperate for a QB and done with Teddy, but I think that was pretty obvious simply by scouting us.
