  1. I really don't understand the talent argument with Corral. I'll admit, he was my #2 QB prospect in this draft. I thought he had a great release, decent arm and plus mobility. His arm in the NFL is honestly average but the quick release helps make up for that. He's not a runner at the NFL level but I think he has more mobility than the average NFL QB. But then... we saw him on an NFL field and woah boy. There's just no way to sugarcoat it. He just didn't look like he belonged. Say it was playing with backups or poorly handling his development or whatever, but despite being put in bad situations good players generally look like they belong. The results night not be good but you can see the traits. You can envision that guy playing well in a better situation. I just didn't see any of that with Matt Corral. He looked in every way like a UDFA who wasn't gonna make it past the first round of roster cuts.
  2. Evaluating NFL prospects is never going to be an exact science. You can never precisely tell how a guy is going to translate to a higher level of competition, especially when you're also going to make him a multi-millionaire overnight at the same time. This NIH stuff might actually help to eliminate some of the guys who will get derailed by the instant riches because big time college QBs are gonna be making some real money now. Not NFL money but these kids are gonna have plenty of money to fug up. But yeah, it's always going to be imperfect. There's always gonna be steals and busts.
  3. The Pac-12 is basically irrelevant. Being in the hunt for the Pac-12 championship just doesn't really matter. UNC is in the driver's seat to win the Coastal division of the ACC this year. I'm not about to argue that we're a powerhouse. The reality is that currently Clemson is the only ACC program with national relevance. I don't think the Pac-12 actually has that team currently though it would be easy to see USC getting back there. A mid-level team rising to relevance with a particular QB is an argument for that QB, not the mid-tier program.
  4. I predict come January or February you've fallen in love with a new QB prospect. Last year it was Trask. This year it was Corral.
  5. Is he Wentz before or after the injuries? It's easy to forget that Wentz was a legit MVP candidate at his best.
  6. Patrick Mahomes - Texas Tech Josh Allen - Wyoming Justin Herbert - post-Chip Kelly Oregon Lamar Jackson - Louisville Aaron Rodgers - Cal Most of the best QBs in the NFL currently don't fit that model and really only one of the best young ones do. Burrow and Brady. Brady is 45. Lawrence could put himself in that conversation soon too.
  7. He had significant question marks for sure... just like all of the best young QBs currently in the NFL.
  8. I'd love to see Wilks work out but I fully expect us to be hiring a new coach shortly after the season ends.
  9. The timing of that trade said a LOT IMO. The rumors cranked up hot and heavy following rookie mini-camp. I think the staff saw with their own eyes this guy was NOT playing as a rookie so unless they wanted to rely on Darnold and PJ they better do something. Anything.
  10. Anyone who thinks we're not going to be scouting the absolute hell out of the top QBs in this draft with every intention of taking one is absolutely deluded. Corral looked awful and he got hurt. No one expected him to look that awful but a lot of folks expected him to have durability issues in the NFL. We basically got a glimpse of the worst of both worlds. It's honestly probably more likely that Corral isn't on the roster next year than him being the pegged starter going into camp. He better hope Fitts doesn't get fired because if he does all bets are off. I wouldn't give him better than 50/50 odds of being on the opening day roster in that scenario.
  11. I have a wild suggestion for you @panthersgreenville. Not ever thought that runs through your head needs its own thread.
  12. The Colt went 53-33 with Luck and won four playoff games. They never went to the big game but I'd still say "Suck for Luck" worked out pretty well for them.
  13. Tanking doesn't guarantee anything but higher draft position. But at least it guarantees something. How is winning just enough games to see the top QBs come off the board before we're on the clock working out for us?
  14. Cam also had elite physical tools. Other than a quick release, Corral is average at best.
  15. Chicago might honestly be low key the worst landing spot in the NFL for a BM Look at the massive amount of resources they've spent on QBs over the past 20 years or so and the result.s.
  16. Quite to the contrary. He's definitely getting benched. The trade compensation drops dramatically if he plays less than 70% of the offensive snaps.
  17. The calls for Sam Howell in Washington are gonna get very loud soon. Wentz is truly terrible these days.
  18. They have to just ditch TNF. They're consistently awful games, increase injury risk, and the last two have been truly two of the worst football games ever played at any level of competition.
  19. I'd be shocked if that turns out to be the case after how bad he looked in preseason combined with his durability concerns rearing their head. I mean, I'd welcome it I just think it's a very long shot.
  20. The list of billionaires that haven't left a wake of skeletons in their closet is non-existent.
  21. It adds up for me. Seems like Snyder would've been forced out long ago unless there was a damn good reason not to force him out.
  22. The actual airport itself is awesome. Super small, good food and beer options. Easy in and out right off the freeway. I love that little airport.
  23. Oh, I'd have a beer with any of y'all. Hell, I'd even buy.
