Yes, in years past that was the model all teams used to develop their qbs. Even then there were more failures than successes. In the past decade at least that's not been the case. It may swing back that way but it's not right now. But in Fields case he has not been nor will never be a pass 1st qb. You've seen them come and go over the years and those guys just cannot thrive in the nfl for very long. Their tendencies get figured out quickly and become less effective as a qb and all they have left with just running. He just another Tasom Hill without the passing or catching ability. Maybe if he sits for another year or two behind a good vet he could develop into something but you don't trade for a project like that.

That's the story of about every young qb drafted. They go to a bad teams and are thrown to the wolves. Fields is a gifted runner, but qb? Not so much. It's been what? 4 years since he was drafted? He's still struggling. I don't blame the team for passing on him because they sure as hell couldn't turn him into a franchise qb. I seriously doubt our current group can either.

Fields is a 1 read and run qb. If his first read isn't open he takes off, even when he doesn't need to. You cannot fix happy feet and lack of field vision.

I forgot which round Moton was selected in. Still, point remains the you've got to go back a while to find solid second round picks.
-
I didn't say that they were good at it. Moose was and Khalil were 2 of their best 2nd round picks. Come to think of it they may the only ones you could call the best. That's how far you have to go back to find one. Sad really.
-
No. If he's a FA I would kick the tires.
-
How could you forget Moose? If I remember correctly he was drafted in the second round.

Or track down the thicker kicker. I hear he's looking for work.

I don't know about abandoning it but I'm sure Andy would have wished they had ran it on that interception that finished us off. My only complaint would be that they had the opportunity to run it a few more times than they did to get the score even before the 4th quarter from where I sit but that's a hindsight observation. In the end they should have ran on their defense more each quarter as their run defense is almost as bad as ours. But I understand why they didn't. The game went sideways and that's all she wrote.

Interesting take on Evero and why no change in scheme

Patience my friend. The cream will rise to the top by seasons end. -

I think that myth is busted. -

Im thinking they are getting their talking points from this place. I'm pretty sure Darin Gant and Person both have stoll material from here and put it out as their own thoughts. -

They will be robbing other teams practice squads just to be able to field a 53 man roster before the season is over at this rate. -
Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)
Jon Snow replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
No team is as dumb as the Panthers have been. I can't even say that there is another team out there more desperate than this team has been even considering something so asinine as what the Panthers gave up. The Panthers are a cautionary tell on what trading up that high will do to your team if you get it wrong. It's just not worth it. -
Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)

It would have to be a blockbuster offer before I would consider it if it were me. This team can ill afford to pass on a guaranteed start for a couple of backups and a future unknown. -
Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)

I cannot see how they will out suck the Panthers but it's possible. That would mean a good defensive player is in play. Going to be an interesting draft for the Panthers. As long as they don't trade up again I may be able to sit through the entire draft. -

I've noticed that I'm saying "who the hell is that guy?" a lot during the game when the Panthers are in defense. -
Would You Get a QB in 2025 draft, or not??
Jon Snow replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
As long the player is bpa it makes sense. Reaching on a bottom of the 1st at best qb at 4 and possibly 1st overall is how we got here. -
Their biggest issue is they cannot stop the run or pass. If they could do at least 1 of those they might have a chance at not getting blown out. They stink at both and this is what you get.
-
Everytime they did they got burned. It's better that they don't with this group.

Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)
Jon Snow replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
So far it looks like the Panthers are the only team in the group that really need a qb. Cleveland can have Sanders and his ego maniac Dad if they want them but I'm not sure they will pull the trigger. I hope the do and it Sanders. -

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The players just aren't capable of anything more that what they've learned so far and all of the new guys are just trying to learn the base defense. I'm not sure how you scheme around a lack of experience and skill even if Evero could. I'm not going to lose sleep if he leaves because it would not matter in the grand scheme of things. More talent would help a lot but that takes time.- 35 replies
