Tepper hired a private investigator to look into Deshaun Watson
amcoolio replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Tepper hate is way overboard on here. He's only had the team a few years, he did the right thing by not immediately making changes like a lot of owners do but evaluate the current regime, he's been aggressive in trying to get a franchise QB according to sources and doesn't mind paying any amount for the coaching staff. He took a gamble on Rhule (who was a hot coaching candidate btw) and possibly lost, and now he's a "football dumbass"? Is there anyone on here that really could have done better? Almost all of you would have hired Rhule and exactly all of you were orgasming over the Joe Brady hire. -
He's too short. He's more in the Johnny Manziel, Geno Smith class of QB's. I would be livid if we drafted him at 6, especially with 3 generational OT's at the top of the draft and one of them is slated to fall to us

Liberty QB Malik Willis met with the Panthers
amcoolio replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm sorry but you can't take a small QB that can't read defenses and is a one read and throw player. Everyone compares him to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are going to have to move on from Hurts soon because he has the same issue. Its way too easy to game plan for and it would be impossible to try to win in the playoffs with that type of QB. Cam was an athletic unicorn that only comes around once in a blue moon, Willis isn't that. To me Willis is like a Geno Smith level player. -
Judging from Fitt's Comments, Reddick isn't coming back.

I honestly wish they would trade CMC, tank the next two years, and start clean with a #1 overall QB and 150+ million in cap in 2024. Enough with the wasted and dead cap dollars. Ian Thomas' contract was ridiculous for his output -
Then have free agency 4 weeks after the end of the Superbowl Waiting 11 weeks after the Superbowl for the draft is very excessive "My Ideal NFL offseason plan if I was commissioner" Superbowl first Sunday of Febuary Free Agency/Trades first Monday of March Draft last Thursday-Saturday of March Rookie/Undrafted/Tryouts minicamp first two weeks of April After minicamp players get mandatory 12 weeks vacation (veterans get about 5 months after Superbowl) Training camp third monday of July (18th this year) 4 weeks of training camp with no preseason games 2 preseason games, 1st preseason game 3rd Saturday of August 2 weeks between second preseason game and first game of season

Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman
amcoolio replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as the huddle will crucify the pick, Thibs would be the logical choice. The only thing they can't do is draft a CB. -
The draft being this late is so stupid. Put it in March, NFL. 6 weeks after the Superbowl is plenty of time to draft prospects, the NBA does it 3 weeks after the finals and every team is already scouting prospects all year anyway. The NFL needs new leadership.

Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman
amcoolio replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The LS pick was indefensible. During the draft everyone here was clamoring to take Trey Smith. Everyone on ESPN said take Trey Smith, he's too talented to pass up and its worth the medical risk. We needed a OG in the worst way. Its the sixth round. Yet we take a long snapper that not only did we not need, but probably wouldn't have been drafted. And of course Trey Smith goes on to be a very good guard his rookie season. -
Jeremiah: Panthers "dead set" on drafting an offensive lineman

Campbell is hearing the same thing as well and he's called the last 4 1st round picks But there is a very good chance that 2 DL and 2 corners go before us so its not gonna be a reach -
Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins

There's a high chance Flores is our next coach if Rhule flounders next year, this is just a transition position.

Campbell is still saying we are targeting offensive line at 6 and not QB, whoever slides out of Ekonwu, Neal, or Cross

Riot: Panthers to take a major swing at QB?
amcoolio replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
FWIW Campbell is still calling us drafting whoever drops out of Ekonwu, Neal or Cross so it lines up with Panthers using trade/FA for QB -
How far would the Stafford led Panthers have gone?
amcoolio replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have a decent team and a great pass D I think our D's main problem was constantly being put in bad situations and on the field way too much Really we are playoff-caliber everywhere except QB and OL I'd say 9-10 wins with Stafford. -
They cross posted that. But what are they supposed to do? They can't exactly be negative on social media. As for Darnold, they struck out on all the other options and all of us here had that 1% of hope that Darnold just sucked on the Jets. They took a gamble at lost. They'll likely keep gambling until they find that franchise QB (please god not Pickett)
-
Believe it or not the huddle doesn't represent all Panthers fans. You guys are crotchety old men that expected a playoff season with Sam Darnold at QB and then come on here every day and bitch about Rhule in every freakin thread. Panthers have plenty of kids/teenage fans

Cincy was just too young and inexperienced on those last two drives. To go from losing for years right to the Superbowl is very impressive though

Likely against the Bucs, only four teams have clearance to play in Germany (Carolina, Tampa Bay, New England, and Kansas City) https://www.facebook.com/CarolinaPanthers/posts/5169154243097540 (they edited their original post to look less conspicuous) ESPN story on NFL playing in Munich in 2022: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33253033/germany-host-first-ever-nfl-regular-season-game-2022

Charlie Campbell definitely has a source inside the organization. He's called the last 4 1st round draft picks and was the only analyst to say the Panthers were taking Horn over any other player last year, even the Huddle didn't predict that. He also said the Panthers were passing on Slater because they don't think he has the measurables for a tackle and it was too high to take a guard during the draft last year, 10 full months before Rhule said it on the radio. So, this is very troubling indeed. Head coaches should have input on drafts but not final say. It seems like Rhule wants to be GM rather than coach.

So? Lots of QB's have gone 6/6 for 89 yards. Darnold had a few first quarters like that this year. He was still garbage. There's no poise there. Pickett looks a lot like Darnold did. Howell is okay I guess, but doesn't wow me. Eye test, these QB's don't have it, and none of them are worthy of a top 10 pick. Despite us having the NFL's worst collection of QB's currently, I certainly would NOT waste it on any of these jags. Like I was really low on Fields and Jones and Lance last year, and didn't want to pick one in the top 10, but these guys are all a tier or two or even three below even those guys. I think the bust potential is greater than 80%. And for a coach and GM needing to make a home run, that's an awful large gamble to make.
