With conversation about bringing in someone from the outside to help Morgan manage the cap and negotiations I wonder where that leaves Samir who supposedly was to be interviewed for the GM job. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/panthers-to-interview-samir-suleiman-for-gm-opening I haven't seen or heard anything. Is he interviewing elsewhere???

If Dan were just coming here from Buffalo we would be ecstatic. His record was solid. Who knows what went on in personnel matters or who made decisions? And honestly if the message in all this is that it needs to be different then the issues shouldn't be dragging up the past and complaining but discussing what needs to change and see how we attack it. There will be plenty of time to criticize if the results stay the same. I prefer to think of Dan as adaptable and able to change and learn at 45 to help turn things around. Like being a middle linebacker and watching film to get a strategy to execute on Sunday.

If you look at Morgan's body of work before coming here, he helped build both Seattle and the Bills into powerhouses. Then he comes here and we bottom out. What is the ingredient he had here and not in Seattle and Buffalo?? Tepper. So can Morgan learn from the last 3 years and be different going forward? Let's hope so for everyone's sake. In some ways being terrible can be a gift. If you are middle of the pack you tend to look at circumstances or lack of opportunities as the reason for where you are. When you really suck you realize it isn't one play or player but significant problems that need to be reworked. Number 1 in my book from a coaching point is matching your scheme to the players you have or getting the best players to play the scheme you want. But when Wilks turned us around last year he was simply playing a scheme our players are built for. Something Reich promptly changed to a spread which is great if your QB gets the ball out quickly and you have good receivers who can find holes or gain separation. Thomas tried to run more but use the same playbook which failed miserably. 2. Find a creative playcaller and stop being so predictable that I can figure out what we are going to do. Imagine how easy it is to dissect our offense by an opposing coordinator. Like having Young call off a play and go under center. What are we going to do? Run it? What else? Oh, maybe play action with 9 in the box and throw it to a receiver who should be singled on the outside. Then again if all receivers are in tight to block all you can do is run. 3. Since Young is going to be here, find a coach and OC who can actually build the offense designed for him instead of building an offense and sticking him in there. Something like what Miami did with Tua. I could go on but do this and maybe we win some games making it easy to tell Tepper to chill because you got this. I don't think owners need to be making decisions but you have to have confidence in your front office. If he trusts Dan and we get a good coach maybe we win some which helps keep Tepper at bay.

The line plays as a unit. When you have 6 different left guards and 7 right guards rotating in week to week and many are jags, retreads and rookies, how good can you look. Our line was awful but we had a tsunami of injuries. Bozeman was last man standing in the middle all season long. I am more concerned about Ekwonu than Bozeman

London wasn't close to that but you are right the Superbowl cost me every bit of that. Great memories though even if we lost. -
Panthers OFFICIALLY Announced to Play in Munich.

The London trip was great and the game was icing but not the reason to go or not go. We made a side trip to Paris one day so it was awesome. I am going to Munich and likely doing a sidetrip to the Netherlands or maybe Iceland to see the northern lights. I went to London with the Roaring Riot and they were great hosts. I saw lots of the sights and had a great time. Going to Munich with them as well. -
Not close. In the only game we saw Dalton play he was decisive, threw into a blitz, was quick with his throws and called audibles to beat the pressure. Things veteran quarterbacks know how to do. Things Bryce isn't doing. Young needs to see Dalton do more with the same group of players as a blueprint for what he should be doing. We fired our quarterback coach because they werent helping Bryce learn the spread offense and how to attack defenses. It is one thing to see it on a tablet and watch film of all the things you did wrong versus watching someone call the exact same play and execute it differently and more effectively.
-
On defense no and on offense used differently. We have road graders like 79 who don't pass block as well as they run block. Our scheme didn't fit our personnel and our lack of receiver talent.
-
Don't agree that any experience is positive for a player. Up until recently the norm was sitting rookies and letting them learn. Dalton is a veteran and can run the offense better. Having a rookie quarterback play some and then watch some and then play some more is ideal if the backup can teach the rookie a lot. This is exactly what we have. Young is regressing not progressing. Doing more of the same is David Carring him. A change right now makes sense with a focus next year to building around him. You aren't giving up so much as readjusting and giving him time to watch and learn. Meanwhile you change the scheme for Bryce. Our current scheme fits Dalton better than Bryce.

Seems like today put an exclamation point on it...

Bryce needs to sit and watch. More playing isn't going to.make him better if he keeps doing the same things wrong and he thinks he is doing it right. (If he didn't think he was doing it well he would do something else. Unless he can't which means he needs to sit and watch Dalton who is likely to play much better. Maybe his injuries will act up and we can see Dalton in there. -
Bryce needs to sit and watch. What was touted as his super power which was quick processing and decision making was serious lacking today. He looks scared when pressured and takes sacks when he could throw the ball away. Throwing two pick sixes on the same route is unexcusable Maybe he will end up great and no one is abandoning him but honestly he regressed tonight against a defense that gave up 40 points in its last 3 games. I think Bryce isn't going to get better until he sees how it should be done. Something he can do watching Dalton.

NFC South Standings.... I'm not saying but.....

I am just going to watch them week by week and enjoy the rest of the season. I am just not going to make predictions given how this year has gone so far. Hard to know what happens from here. Obviously predicting continued failure is the safest position but who knows...... -
Seems many guys are running their version of Fangio's system. Evero can be replaced as can everyone.

What I liked was Bryce taking us down for a game winning drive, draining the clock and Piniero for the win. We have had chances before to drive it down and win in the 4th but somehow screwed it up. This was the first time we actually accomplished our goal and won. That was huge and a huge step for Bryce. Hopefully the first of many.

Great win today. Haven't heard sweet Caroline in a while.

Just came downstairs to a gigantic pile of metaphor

I wish you strength to persevere, love to share with your precious family, a continued sense of humor to appreciate the wild unexpected twists and the resilience to bounce back no matter the blows. None of us are getting out of here alive but how we live makes all the difference. I applaud your hard work. -
Needed it or in an abundance of caution we are resting his ankle and trying to look at the long term? Why would you risk further injury when you have a capable backup. It is just a bonus he can watch Dalton while he recuperates. I am sure he isn't happy he is sitting as he is a competitor. Your take on all this suggests you didn't want him from the start and have an agenda here.
-
One of the things I want to see is whether the offense looks better or worse with Dalton. From what I have read much of the ultimate play choosing is based on reading the defense and audibelizing to what works. There are several options we can do from a particular formation so we line up the same whether we run or pass. The question is playcalling or execution? This Sunday may shed some light.

Have you ever played competitive sports at any level? From your responses the answer appears to be no. Truth is you can blame our fans for that. Booing your own guy 2 games into his rookie year. When they interviewed Derek Carr he said he couldn't believe the fans were booing in his first home start. He noted that fans have no idea how hard it is to play QB.

Looking forward to seeing Andy play. Bryce can use the time to regroup and regain his confidence which you can see he has lost a bit and he looks tentative and won't chuck it down the field. Sitting should help him take stock and get ready to jump back in in a few weeks. I think the staff doesn't want to David Carr him and this is one way to help him without making it obvious there is an issue

Totally disagree. Young is going to be fantastic in a few years. Did you see Manning play as a rookie? I did and it was ugly. Guys like Burns, Moton, Chinn, Hekker among others are great players. We have a bunch of upcoming guys with great ability who are learning and growing. Only a casual angry fan would throw in the towel after 2 games. Did you expect him to do what no other rookie qb has done in a decade which was win his first start or look great immediately? I said months ago that we would likely start slow and could lose our first several games but by the end of the year we will be a tough out and could challenge for the division (assuming that no one wins more than 10 games). I still hold to that view. Have I been disappointed through 2 games? Absolutely, but what I am watching for is game to game improvement and we surely played a better game Monday versus Atlanta. This staff is a good staff based on their previous performances and once they gel will help us really get things rolling. I am not sad Andy is starting. I suspect Bryce could use a rest and watch the veteran play while he watches and see what happens on the field. I have heard a number of QBs say it helped them to play, sit and then play again. I am not looking at this as 4 years of sucking. I look at this as 2 games into a new improved regime where Tepper finally did something right. I expected a bunch of whining and bitching from huddle members as that is what they do But I have to admit I didn't expect this much after 2 games. I stayed away for 48 hours to hope the whining would die down but it seems to be a Neverending story around here.
