  1. Love the signing. Curious about where these guys line up for Snow. Our LB corps went from meh, to niiiiiiice real quick today. Reddick-Perryman-Shaq with Chinn patrolling is NASTY.
  2. Me watching Burns and Chinn's Twitter unfollowing status.....
  3. In thinking back to the 2018 draft, there were 4 QBs that draftniks and analysts were discussing in the same breath as the infamous '83 draft. Darnold and Rosen were perceived as the top pick and Mayfield was nipping at their heels. Week of the draft Mayfield vaulted into #1 slot and the Jets looked like the big winners when Darnold fell in their lap. Rosen was highly touted and Allen was the wild card that you had to be patient with. Fast forward, and I feel like this draft class is showing a lot of parallels to '18. Lawrence looks like a lock with three prospects vying for that next spot. Doubtful that all four end up as elite QB1s, so one could argue the gamble of moving up vs. a proven 26-year old is easier said than done.
  4. That's a Bradberry contract just given to Griffin. I know there's a new GM in town with Seattle ties, but IMO, JB >> Griffin.
  5. Davis would have been nice. Still some good talent at CB out there, though some have their warts... Awuzie (26) Griffin (26) Witherspoon (26) King (26) Conley (25) Jones (26)
  6. Perhaps the Panthers see if a QB drops to 8, but if the Jets go QB at 2 and there isn't one at 8, I see sending our 2nd for Darnold. Fields/Lance/Wilson are the dream, but we give up the least amount of current and future assets for Darnold and still get a cornerstone on the OL at 8. Draft Slater or Sewell at 8 to pair up with Moton for the next decade giving Darnold something Cam never had. We would lose our pick at 40, but could still get a quality player in the 3rd...maybe Jabril Cox from LSU or perhaps an IOL. Send Teddy out for a third day pick too in addition to our two additional sixth rounders that we got this past week. I hope we make a move for a TE in FA. Jonnu Smith is who I want. I could see Fitterer bringing Griffen at CB over from Seattle. I'd like to kick the tires on Malik Hooker too.
  7. Lance def had several Sunday throws that not every prospect is capable of dropping in. He did have some overthrows and a few off-target too. Footwork looked solid, his movement from under center and "shotgun" looked great and he threw with a purpose on the run. He also had a few "ooooohs and ahhhs" kind of pretty throws too. As long as folks are patient with him, no reason he won't be a great pick for us long-term.
  8. I wonder if this tweet and today's leak about the restructure was what CMC posted about.
  9. I know the league is not big on handing out big contracts to RBs and by no means does having one equate to hoisting the Lombardi. However, CMC reminds me a lot of Luke, but on offense. His work ethic, his passion for the game and how he dominates while he's on the field....driving opposing coordinators crazy. If CMC gets us Watson, I'm ok with losing him, but it is really nice to have a weapon like McCaffrey on our squad.
  10. I'm kinda over McClain. Nothing against him as he is a well-respected member of sports media, but I feel like the Texans are using him as a puppet. His reports fluctuate like the weather, and I'm tired of keeping up.
  11. My ideal trade that is through Panther blue lenses: 2021 FRP 2022 FRP 2023 FRP CMC Robby YGM * Teddy if they want...but I doubt they take on the salary of CMC, Teddy and RA. It stings, but doesn't cripple us. I think their offer would be: 4 draft picks instead of 3 DJ instead of Robby Burns or Chinn instead of YGM This is where the negotiating game will be critical and how much Tepper chimes in to get DW. Who will blink first.... Houston, who just lost their franchise WR and DE over the last year and now has a disgruntled QB that their fans know wants out, but the team is standing firm on. Carolina, who has shown their hand in being needy for a QB and has assets to offer.
  12. Long-term, how much would we be on the hook for in dead cap after 2021? If CMC is part of a deal for DW, would that allow us to add, say, Samuel + a TE (Jonnu/Everett/Henry) if the contract is on the low end in year 1 and then we make '22 the year where it accelerates? Not necessarily fully backloaded, but if '21 has a minimal impact and then '22 absorbs more when our cap opens up. I'm sure Teddy would get moved at some point to free up some cap too. Bring Mike Davis back and/or draft someone like Sermon in R3 or R4 to pair up with Bonnafon & Smith.
  13. Pump the brakes, tiger. My KB comment was just for fun and not related to Miller, Miller's choices or your comment. If you read through a few comments back, you would see where I am a huge fan of Miller.
  14. Can you imagine if KB was still here and took a year off for Covid.....yikes!
  15. I was high on Miller heading into 2020 and am pulling for him big time this year. Def in that JAG category with his work cut out for him for now, but the flexibility he would bring in allowing Chinn to play more SAF is huge. I am envisioning a highly competitive camp between guys like Miller (24 yo), Robinson (22 yo), Carter (25), Franklin (24) & Orr (23).
  16. Agreed....the only trades that come to mind for this deal is Walker and Ricky Williams...neither are QBs. I feel like if we substitute YGM instead of Burns to the packages being offered, we should get a deal done. 21 FRP 22 FRP 23 FRP CMC YGM Keeping our 2nds and 3rds will go a long way and we can find another RB. YGM hurts, but still having Burns and Brown on our DL and Chinn in the secondary doesn't set us back as much. We can sign someone like Carson or draft a RB in the fourth round.
  17. Agreed. I think Curtis was always going to be a luxury re-signing with Robby and DJ here. I believe the trenches are more important than a WR3, especially with CMC here. Flip side to the coin is that Robby and DJ are FAs in '22. Samuel could ensure that we have depth at that position if we part ways with either or both. Moton is the key to our offseason. Everything after him is gravy. I do think we can find a cheaper WR than Samuel in FA.....it is a loaded position group. We wait it out a bit and we can snag someone for sure.
  18. Re-sign Larsen. I personally think Paradis played waaaay better and almost to the level that we expected when first signed, so I'm not necessarily pushing him out the door. However, Larsen would be cheaper and give us a good option. The question would be dead money moving forward. I know we are trying to move away from that and shoot for a clean sheet. $8.5M could be the difference though in bringing back Samuel/Douglas though.
  19. If we had 10 Brian Burns' on D, we wouldn't need DW.....Our defense might outscore the offense.
  20. CMC, yes.... Burns/Chinn - please no! If we are giving up three first rounders in addition, we will have a real struggle surrounding Watson with talent on both sides.
  21. Maybe I'm misreading the amount we have available, but if we have $24M in cap space and you have to earmark ~ $10M for rookies, we have $14M in cap space. Tagging Moton would be around $14M. I wonder if eating KK's hit this year and trying to have a clean sheet in '22 by Suleiman is an indicator of our direction for a QB. A QB on a rookie contract vs. Watson/Wentz/vet is looking more and more like the chess move. 2022 will be our year to start finishing off the roster. Rhule's third year, Teddy off the books and two rookie classes on the books.
  22. Gimme the two Smiths - Jaylon and Jonnu. Both are 25 years old and would look great in Charlotte. A back 7 unit anchored by Smith-Shaq-Chinn would be nasty. I do really like Njoku, so getting him would be a great get too, though I feel Smith is more of what we are looking for.
  23. A 23 year old QB in a crappy situation, 2 HCs and 2 OCs in 3 years, after being drafted #3 overall. Sounds like from an asset standpoint, Darnold could be the right blend of losing draft picks, without gutting the franchise and still having capital left to move forward with drafting talent this year, and in 2022.
  24. Agree that Lawrence is more of a lock, but I do think a QB selection at 3 would give us one as well. If we sit pat at 8 and use hope as our strategy, we are doomed. If we were at 5, I'd feel better, but at 8, too much risk. Atlanta, Philly, Detroit, Denver, SF, NE, Washington, Pittsburgh, Indy, Chicago and maybe even Vegas all have needs for a young QB. If we stay at 8 and all of the big 4 QBs are taken and DW is traded elsewhere, we are fugged. Our next options are Mac Jones, Kyle Trask, Jamie Newmann (who I really do like), Carson Wentz, Mitchell Trubisky, David Carr, Marcus Mariota or Jimmy G. Yes, we could get a top OL/CB/LB at 8, but nothing we've done this offseason makes me think we will sit and wait at 8. We've unfortunately shown our hand to all 31 teams and Teddy. Time to pony up and finish what we started....just have to hope Fitterer is better at negotiating than Hurney.
