So Harbaugh says he has no interest, but the first post is that we could get him? He might eventually come back to the NFL, but I don't think he would come here now. He would want a situation where they have a established qb and a solid framework. At least I would if I were him.

I don't know if I buy the Volatile culture bit. Or that Rhule has lost the locker room. But losing tends to breed hostility, and we have been losing a lot, so its not surprising that stories like this will pop up.

I hope and pray we don't hire a new coach that thinks like that. Otherwise, we won't be any better off than we are with Rhule.

The ironic part of this is that if we really had a slow methodical process, it might have worked. But we tried to jump it by signing Bridgewater, then with the absurd Darnold trade, and its made things worse.

UNC's offense scored more in 1 game than we have in the last 3-4 I think. They looked off today for some reason. I am not sure we should draft Howell, but I certainly wouldn't judge him based on one game.

If we improve the line, but keep Sam, then it won't matter. Most of Darnold's interceptions are just bad decisions on his part, made when he has more time. If there is a qb available with our first round pick that we think will be good, then we take him. If we have to let him sit a year while we improve the offensive line, so be it. But qb is the most critical position on the field, bar none. And very few draft picks turn into good qb's. Not that I trust this staff to do an assessment or develop a qb.

As far as the individual qb's, don't know. As far as the class overall, the experts and the huddle members say its bad, and they are usually wrong, so it will probably be a good class overall.

Saban realized he couldn't coach at the NFL level and abandoned ship. Hopefully, Rhule will do the same.

Cam is done, and Sam was done before he ever signed with us.

It was college all stars vs the NFL champs. I vaguely remember watching the last one. Steelers dominated. And yeah, as the years went by and the NFL got closer to what it is today, they began to dominate more and more.

A great college coach who failed in the NFL because he couldn't deal with grown men. And a bunch of grown men who were stars in college game. Alabama would be lucky to score even three points.

With ease. Its grown men versus 19/20 year old kids. In fact, I would be shocked if Alabama even scored.

Saints have a great defense and a shot at the playoffs. We have a terrible offense that gets shut down by below average defenses. I would be shocked if we win. I will be shocked if we get in the end zone even once.

Agreed. I don't think he is a very good NFL coach, and his decisions, especially irt qb are baffling to say the least. But hate, nah not really.

Tanking doesn't work. But I am hoping that if we lose enough and by enough points, Rhule will be gone.

Hill or Trevor S will be back next week. But their offense will still suck. However, its likely their defense will score enough to win the game.

I didn't say that the Henderson trade was a bad one, only that it helped put us in a bad position regarding rebuilding the oline thru the draft next year, in that we gave up a third to get him. Combine that with the Darnold deal, and we don't have many picks to use on offensive line next year, especially if we draft a QB with the first. If we sign anyone decent at qb, its going to cost a significant amount of cap space. Given that we will already have a lot tied up in Sam, its going to be hard to sign both decent oline and a quarterback. Not impossible, but not easy.

We may not have a choice. We owe Sam to much money last year to cut him and sign anyone that is even decent. From a fiscal perspective, keeping Sam and drafting a qb is really the only choice. But its going to be hard to fix the Oline this offseason unless we spend our very limited amount of picks on Oline. Fixing the Oline thru free agency is expensive, as oline is at a premium. The Darnold trade (and to a lesser extent, the Henderson trade), really put us in a bad position. Fortunately, the bad position is short term.

Over a period of 1-2 games, perhaps. But over an entire season, these things tend to work themselves out. That being said, a defense shouldn't be penalized in rankings if the offense turning the ball over at the 10. If the other team starts out with the ball on the the 10 yard line, then that defense has its back against the wall and the offense is almost assured of scoring regardless. The rules favor the offense to such a degree nowadays, that you can take an average offense, put it against the best defense in the NFL, and 9 times out of 10, the average offense will score if it starts out inside the other team's 20. Of course, our offense wouldn't, but then its far below average, so guess it doesn't count in my scenario. And this is my opinion, but I think you are ignoring the mental aspect of it. If the offense is consistently turning the ball over, and providing no help to the defense, and the defense knows that they probably aren't going to win regardless of how they play, it eventually begins to impact the play of the defense. I see this year in and year out on bad teams. Defense starts the season making plays, but the offense keeps putting them in bad situations, and eventually, the defense looks like our does today. Or vice versa.

Anything other than stats is just an opinion and is probably flawed. That being said, its clear the team (with one or two exceptions) has given up and is already thinking about the offseason.

I think tanking for draft picks rarely (if ever) works. But if we can get blown out these last three games, that might convince Tepper that hiring a college coach was stupid and he needs to correct it. So tank to get rid of Rhule.

Quarterback is far and away the most valuable position on the field. If we think that Pickett, or anyone else is going to be a solid quarterback, then we take him. Period, end of discussion. Then we sit him for a year, throw Darnold out there (or whomever else we sign), rebuild the oline, and maybe spend most of our picks the following year on the Oline. As far as the comments about this year's class not being that strong, there is no way to know that until they start playing on Sunday. But I definitely don't want Rhule doing the assessments on the QB. He has to many failures in that regard.
