  1. I was wondering how that could possibly be a penalty. Glad they waved it off.
  2. Welcome to the NFL Caleb. You aren't playing San Jose State anymore. He certainly seems to have the skill set to succeed, but he is going to improve in several areas to be a NFL qb.
  3. I don't see how they can if the epically bad performances continue.
  4. And he might some day, probably in college at least.
  5. I have no doubt that Bryce works as hard as anyone, studies as much game film, gets just as depressed when he plays poorly, as Stroud or anyone else does. He probably doesn't lack the work ethic, or even the smarts. He just lacks the abilities/talent/size to succeed in the NFL.
  6. No one thinks Dalton is going to take us to a winning record. But we might actually be competitive in a few games.
  7. I am sure Jets fans said the same thing in 2020/2021. Its a long season, don't know how things are going to play out.
  8. Same here. Williams has some wow plays, but wow plays don't matter if he can't be consistent. That being said, he is getting off to a better start than Young or Fields. CJ certainly seems like he is going to be a good NFL qb for many years.
  9. Did he want Young, or was it a group decision? Personally, I think the whole "Tepper forced the choice of Young" thought has been repeated so much that people believe it as fact despite the fact there is no actual evidence. Bryce Young got offensive help he needed via Panthers' draft - ESPN Fitterer is gone, Reich is gone and we have to hope Tepper has learned his lesson.
  10. Not sure if its scheme, but virtually every pass was some 2-3 yard crap. Almost anything beyond that and it was picked or incomplete. Personally, I think its just qb choice to throw so many short passes.
  11. People keep saying this that Tepper is forcing Young on the staff, but I haven't seen any evidence to support this supposition. I do believe Canales was hired to see if h3 could turn Young into an NFL qb. I don't doubt that he decides Bryce isn't ready and to go with the backup, then I think Tepper will allow him to do so. I mean I know people here hate Tepper, but he can't be a complete moron.
  12. Assuming he is good enough to actually have any control on where he goes. I mean he does have 23 total passes in his long and storied NCAA career, but I think NFL scouts might need to see a few more before anointing him the next great thing.
  13. Is Florida a cupcake? I know they aren't top five SEC, but they are at least at or above VT level.
  14. I agree, if you read the whole statement, not that bad. Just basically said we have to do our jobs regardless of what is called.
  15. I had the wrong one. Its this one. Chiefs win on walk-off FG after crucial 4th-down penalty on Bengals - ESPN Video
  16. No one knows how a college player will do until the suit up on Sundays. That is true no matter how many talking heads call a player a generational talent. Most of the guys that are elite were not considered elite prospects. Patrick Mahomes was drafted behind Mitch Trubisky. Tom Brady was a 6th rounder. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were both drafted behind Sam Darnold. And Jackson was also drafted behind Josh Rosen. I have watched Cam Ward and the guy makes all the throws we would want, and for the most part, isn't used to having a loaded team around him. Have no idea if he will be a elite NFL qb, or even a average NFL qb, but given the circumstances, I think he has as good a shot as anyone in the draft.
  17. I loved Cam when he was here, 2015 was special. But unless his arm has magically 100% healed, we won't win with him.
  18. I agree. This season was about hoping we could see something from Young. I think that ship has sailed. Now it's about seeing what we have the other young players. For example, the receivers, and maybe Brooks when he finally gets ready. And we won't do that with Young.
  19. We expected the defense to be bad this year, as they focused on the offense in the off season. And the defense wasn't great today. But they did enough today to give us a shot at winning or keeping the game close with an adequate offense. And aside from a bad punt, the special teams did ok today.
  20. Perhaps, but even when he isn't jumping, when he has clear vision downfield, he still just makes bad throws. He can't throw well on the run, especially when moving forward. He can't read blitzes. I just don't see anything that might give us one iota of hope.
  21. Like Bryce Young, Justin Fields, etc... Who are the elite qb's in the NFL right now. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar Jackson, Herbert, Prescott (sometimes), the list is debatable I suppose. But the only qb that is currently considered elite that came from one of those big programs is Burrows. CJ Stroud might make it in if he continues to improve. But personally, I prefer to take a chance on someone who excelled with lesser talent around him, against teams that were more physically talented.
  22. With Dalton, I think we could win 3 or 4 games. There are some pretty horrible teams in the league, and we at least have a solid oline and I think a solid group of receivers. But our qb play is so horrific that it doesn't matter. Regarding getting the number one pick, I am not sure that is a good thing. Most of the elite qb's in the league were picked a little later in the first round. And we haven't exactly shown that we can make good selections. Might be better off being forced into picking someone who is not our guy.
  23. Other than his name, I don't get the obsession with Manning. I am not sure I want yet another qb from a loaded program that makes qb's look better than they actually are.
