  1. For Cam's first three years, he actually had a decent offensive line. Not great but ok. And the wide receivers, well they had Smith and signed Ginn in 2013. The team had a lot of holes to fill when Cam got here. So they had to make a lot of choices, and while the defensive picks were good, the offensive picks not so much. We spent a second on Silatolu, a first on Kelvin Benjamin, a second on Funchess. We also signed Oher, who was good until his injury. And Ted Ginn of course, who gave the offense some firepower. IMO, both Hurney and Gettleman both tried to pick players that would help the offense, but they generally sucked at it (except for running backs). Gettleman seems to have continued his lack of offensive success at NY. I guess we could look back at the 2013 draft and say that Gettleman should have focused more on the line, but had he done so, the defense if we hadn't picked Star and Short, our defense would have been pretty bad, so I am not sure it would mattered in the long run.
  2. I do. Get as many picks as possible to increase the amount of young talent across the board and hope enough of them pan out to make us a contender. This is how teams become consistent winners. If enough of the picks pan out. Or change coaches every 3-4 years if they don't pan out.
  3. They tried to build around Cam, they just weren't very good at it. If you look at the draft picks and free agent signings while Cam was here, we used a lot of capital on offense. But to many of their choices flamed out.
  4. The best was Smith, Moose, and Proehl. But this one could be very good.
  5. The league average for success of second round picks is not that great, so we are above average overall, and for the last six years or so, way above average. Only Little was a bad pick in that time span.
  6. Fwiw, I can't think of many current players drafted in the top 8 that changed a team's fortunes singlehandedly, qb or otherwise. There are a few, but not many. Certainly none in the last couple of years.
  7. Fields going to where qb's go to fade away (Chicago). Maybe.
  8. Eagles and Cowboys made a trade? That is a surprise.
  9. Well, I hope he is good. We still have yet to pick an offensive player under Ruhle
  10. Well, either fields or sewell or both will be available when we pick. Interesting to see what happens.
  11. If the Dolphins get even decent qb play, they could be one of the better teams in the NFL for a while.
  12. Atlanta is going to have a ton of pass catchers. And they may need them unless their defense improves dramatically.
  13. And if they do, he might come in and be the next Joe Montana.
  14. Now we find out if the Forty Whiners were just blowing smoke regarding the Bama qb.
  15. Depends on how we look at. I wouldn't keep two qb's for a long time, but imo, we give them a year or two, then decide which one is best and get rid of the other one, ala San Diego when they had Rivers and Brees.
  16. Personally, I would love to go into next season with two potential starters. I have been watching football long enough to realize that if we depend on a draftee like Fields or someone we traded for like Darnold being the guy, the odds aren't good. But with two guys, the odds are better. I wouldn't do it with any other position, but qb is important enough to risk tying up additional draft capital.
  17. Drafting a tight end would be a mistake for them imo. They have to much draft capital and cap space tied up in pass catchers already. They should either draft Ryan's replacement and let him sit for a year or two, or draft a top defensive player. So I hope they select Pitts lol
  18. If that is the same one I read about this morning, the Bobcat was Rabid. Could mean a lot of shots for those that were attacked.
  19. They are all crapshoots, which is why some want to trade back. More picks equals better chance at success.
  20. I am not defending Rivera, but most coaches these days succeed or fail in large part due to the play at Qb.
  21. That is a little before my time. I started following Washington in the mid to late 70's, a couple of years after they went to the Super Bowl with George Allen.
  22. Jerry Glanville. He was the Falcons coach at the time, and didn't like Favre at all. Got rid of him as soon as he could. One of the worst moves of all time. I think Favre did have some issues related to being late for practice and being kind of a partier, but he seem to get it together.
  23. I hope if Fields is there, we take him. And we might, if he is there. For that matter, I feel the same way about Lance. I also think that the staff believes he wont be there at 8. From what I have read, he won't even be there at four. And that is why they went with the Darnold trade.
