For a fruit pie to be anything other than a gooey bowl of fruit, the crust is the foundation, walls, and ceiling to the pie. Much like a house is just a house till you add people, then it becomes a home. A pie crust is just bland crumble bread until you add your filling. Then it's pie. I prefer homemade with brown sugar, butter, and crushed pecans or walnuts. Crust is at the very least 45% of the pie.
