  1. So every team had a new HC, new OC and new DC and turned over a good portion of the roster? Be freakin real with your answers.
  2. So a new coach to NFL takes over a team in the middle of a complete world shut down, can't interact with his players and even scout guys, so he relies on past college players to get him up and running. Then with no fans or real player interaction, starts with the daft and rebuilds a defense that sucked. I don't count 2020. And on top of it, we got out of cap hell. What happens if Luke doesn't retire or CMC doesn't get hurt? Is Rhule doing everything right, no. But I don't think everybody can lump it all on him. Even drafting Horn was a good move but he got hurt (same day as CMC). How is that on him? The O-line is on him. Taking a chance on Sam was a good move when the other attempts didn't pan out. Picking up his option, not good. Giving Robbie more money or thinking Erving can be a starting LT also didn't work out. Luvu and Reddick worked out. Fox has been decent. But some guys show up great in practice and crack when out there. I'm not defending him but I don't count 2020 as a real year. Between Covid and the cap and everybody being new, it was a screwed up year. I'm just trying to be logical. Tepper (IMO) is not looking for quick results, he's looking for long term gains as in a consistent winner. He's hoping Rhule can do what he did in college. Nothing is a sure fire full proof winning formula. It took both Brady and Belichek to turn it around in NE and stay that good. Npndy has a franchise QB for 15+ years.
  3. I saw the entire team on Friday and they looked loose. I even watched some of the defensive walk throughs. They looked like normal, getting ready for a game. It doesn't feel like a bad environment. I truly believe when people don't know the real story, every story put out there is believed. They have work to do and people have to make steps in the right direction so we'll see. Some things obviously didn't work out. Some did. Since we all can't do anything about it, we have 2 choices. Support them no matter what as a fan or jump off and find a new team to root for. It's like at a company, some people love the new boss and some don't. I am just gonna give it time. Maybe in college it took 2 to 3 years to turn around a program, but learning the NFL and its ways may take a little longer. We've got nothing to lose but to see. It's not like we were doing anything really good since 2016 on anyway. Tepper did say it could take 5 years when he hired Rhule. There's no reason to not believe someone who's had success at 2 different colleges couldn't do it in the NFL, he just may need a little more time. We don't want a flash in the pan, one great year and then back to square one. They, and fans want a consistent winner.
  4. Don't we get 2 conditionals (a 3rd or 4th round pick) or 1 or each? Reasons: Burns is identical and Gross is a future (stronger DE). If Gillmore signs and we like Taylor, we have Horn as our #1. Get the picks but not doing anything.
  5. Good article. I think when Rhule wanted his guys, he wanted guys who knew his process, especially during 2020 and Covid. I don't think it was and idea it just didn't work out. OC Brady was good but they didn't give him time with Teddy or the team to develop. No CMC. At the end of 2020 we saw something with the defense. They would have been better keeping Teddy, as that was their big mistake. By the end of 2021 (now), we would have solid defense and we could have drafted a QB or signed one while building the O-line and have the cap space to do it all. Having no CMC hurt Sam and Brady. Dallas exposed us in week 4 and we never recovered. Maybe they mean the process is working as in the coaches starting to figure out what they have to do all game long, not just the first series. I like Snow and I think Rhule will get it or at least I hope he does. He built 2 programs up and yes that was college, but success is success and maybe he just needs little more time in the NFL than in college. I'm gonna see the players tomorrow so I see the mood.
  6. What if Brown is sucking at practice is the reason he's not playing? If they put him out there, he'll be worse than what's out there, what if? IDK the answer but if the kid hasn't shown a solid glimpse in practice does he deserve to get a shot to just please the fans?
  7. Idk you can completely change an offense mid season. So for next year, I can see more under center play action plays.
  8. I would love to see a competitive game even if we lose.
  9. Several factors. 1st being CMC. It changes the game plan and the way they block based on the runners style. Different QBs. And I think teams are blitzing us more or run blitzing us as they know we can't really run (why Rhule wants to run the ball). Even Moton is not having an all-pro year but still solid. Changing QBs, lots of injuries. Sometimes it's more of that and the fact we don't have the greatest talent level across the line only adds to it. Stability to have the same 5 guys with just one or two missing some time would have helped but we don't even have that.
  10. How BC plays at LT the next 2 games will help determine what they do. If they feel they need a LT, then they'll get one in the 1st. If the want a top G or C, they may drop a few slots and get a 2nd rd pick back and then take C/G in the mid 1st rd. No matter what, we need OL players.
  11. What choices do we have? Paradis is out and done (never really recovered from his sever leg injury). Erving is Erving. Brown has to mature and get in shape. I saw him personally last week and he looks like a heavy HS kid. Miller and Jordan as low level FA signings, we shouldn't have high expectations. We resigned Moton. Eflien doesn't too bad as a center, so it's something next year. We are gonna draft 5 or 6 and get the Alabama LT. In the 3rd or 4th, we can get a Guard. Sign a good FA guard and we're at least better than this year.
  12. Tepper gave Rhule a 7 year deal because he had to match what he had in college. He also promised him time to rebuild. If he doesn't give him at least 3 years, no coach will trust him to come here. They'll all want a 5+ year contract knowing if he's fired me in 2, I'm still getting paid. In his position (that he put himself into) he has no choice but to see what year 3 brings.
  13. What do you think the Browns felt after getting rid of Belichick about 25 years ago? Not saying Rhule is that at all, but sometimes it takes more than 2 years to figure it all out and completely change over a roster, no cap space for the first year, all while Covid is effecting everything for your first 2 years. When the wheels come off, everything looks bad. He needs to change a lot but it's not all on him. Missing blocks, dropping the ball, throwing the ball short, injuries or not tackling someone is not on him. It's a team game.
  14. What options does Cam have next year? Practically none because he's just not the same great player he was. A few million a year to play a supportive yet still "game day active and in the game plan" role, why not. He loves Charlotte and most love him. Cam also came back more humble with a different perspective. If he wants to still play, this probably would be his only way then just being a back up holding a clip board. We have a 90% chance of Darnold being on the team next year, because of his contract. Build the O-line and keep the defense Elite and see what happens. Remember when Tepper hired Rhule he said this could take up to 5 years to start turning this around and into a consistent winner. I think he was going to give Rhule time to figure it out at an NFL level. 1 good O-line signing and 2 top draft picks and the O-line turns around quickly. You can't fix everything in 1 year but in 3 to 4, maybe. I don't think any of us have a choice.
  15. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/12/25/espn-jimmy-garoppolo-jordan-love-panthers/ In a little imagining of how the 2022 quarterback carousel could spin, ESPN staff writer Bill Barnwell crafted together three distinct scenarios for the upcoming offseason. And one of those timelines (perhaps the worst possible one) has the Panthers acquiring good ol’ Jimmy G for a conditional 2023 draft pick. “If the Panthers strike out in their moves to acquire a superstar under center, Garoppolo is a logical Plan B,” Barnwell writes. “We know that he has more upside than it might seem — the 49ers did make it to a Super Bowl with him, after all — and he wouldn’t preclude them from going after a quarterback in the 2023 draft. This would be a third-round pick in 2023 that could rise as high as the first round if Garoppolo plays 16 games and Carolina makes the playoffs.” We’re still waiting, now at the end of year No. 5 as a starter, on that upside from Garoppolo—whose play hasn’t exactly been inspiring. Speaking of uninspiring, such a move would make Sam Darnold dispensable and lead to—as Barnwell further suggests—a trade to the New Orleans Saints for Carolina’s failed project. The second scenario that involves the Panthers has Green Bay Packers backup Jordan Love packing his bags for Charlotte. This proposed deal would send the 2020 first-round pick over for the same price they got Darnold for—second and fourth-round selections. “While Carolina has attempted to trade for star quarterbacks over the past two offseasons, this scenario would leave the market with none available,” he writes, leaving Aaron Rodgers with the Packers for the future. “The Panthers might not want to use another midround pick on a quarterback who isn’t a sure thing, but facing the horror of going into 2022 with Sam Darnold as their top option, Love would be a low-cost, high-upside alternative. They reportedly took a close look at Love before the 2020 draft.” We got our first real look at Love this season in a spot-start for Rodgers. The 23-year-old, in his first career start, completed 19 of his 34 throws for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Kansas City Chiefs back in Week 9. So, are you feeling the Love or would you rather shimmy with Jimmy? (We’ll see ourselves out now.)
  16. If you draft a QB in the 1st, you don't get a good OL pick until the mid round. You have Sam and Cam would probably do a deal similar to what he did this year. I'm not saying this is what they should want to do but we may not have too many choices for 2022, with Sams contract and having no 2nd or 3rd round picks. And as a player told me recently, we have a lot of guys to pay for next year.
  17. Somebody I know inside the team (with no football ops connection) suggested that could be a good situation for Cam, and I agree. He's the main back up but plays throughout the game (short yardage especially). Why not? If we don't draft a QB in round 1 or sign a top FA, why not ride with Sam and Cam for 2022. Build the O-line (which everybody under the sun agrees we need to do). In 2023 either through FA or draft when the team is "hopefully" an 8 or 9 win team and ready for the next step and move on from Cam and Sam if needed.
  18. On WFNZ they were talking some teams might run at a couple of QB's and there is a couple of top 5 DE's so getting the Alabama LT could be a realistic option. But trading down a few spots and picking up a 2nd round pick sound even better. Getting a 3rd rd comp pick for not re-signing D Jax sounds even better.
  19. We will probably fall between 5th & 7th in the draft. Bears lose 2 and Giants lose 1 and we probably get the 5th IF we lose out. If LT Evan Neal from Alabama (6-7, 350 pounds) is there, it's a NO brainer, take him. If he doesn't fall to us (which he should), we should drop a few slots (to about 10th or 11th), pick up a 2nd round pick and either take: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa (6-3, 290 pounds) Or even drop a little lower (around 12th-13th) and grab Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State (6-5, 310 pounds) but not if they think we'll miss the chance. LT or C is huge. C Ryan Kalil was the general for so many years. The QBs are not strong enough to use your only pick in the top 100. Build the OL through the draft and FA and hopefully get a decent one in FA to bide your time. But just like we built the defense, build the offense. I've talked to players on defense and they are proud of the defense they have. If I get what Rhule is trying to build (which is real hard to see these days) an incredible defense and a running offense for cold weather playoff football. Not based on superstars but a collective team of good solid players. Unless you have an Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, you need a solid team to be and stay competitive. I think we believe they should have addressed every position and there's no way to do that. We whiffed on O-line and QB but did pretty good in other areas, but it's all a crap shoot. It takes time and fans are impatient. 2020 doesn't count as a real 1st year because of Covid and all the restrictions with a new NC, OC & DC, and a ton of new players. 2021 is like 1.5 years to me. I believe we'll see a better team next year. Maybe not winning the Super Bowl, but more competitive, or at least I hope. I don't see them signing DJax and getting the 3rd or 4th round comp pick from him. I hope they keep Luvu, Reddick and Gilmore, even Haynes.
  20. They will use some of the money that DJax would have got to pay him. They'll also get a 3rd rd pick for the FA loss. Win-win.
  21. They are NOT going to let Rhule go. Also think that most of the coaches are mostly Rhule guys, who guides the team? He's gonna get year 3 and if shows improvement, he'll get another. Its a 7 year contract. He staying 3 to 4 years at a minimum. Tepper original said it may take 5 years to build a consistent winner so I see 4 as a minimum.
  22. Who knows. A really good line would help Cam or Sam if we have them next year.
  23. It's gonna be Darnold next year vs Cam or a draft pick. Build the O-line and see where that takes you. It's hit and miss anyway.
