  1. My gut is telling me... Quinn (or Morris) to Seattle Vrabel to ATL Ben Johnson to Was And Canales here.
  2. Vrabel won't come here. Seattle is a much more likely destination...or even ATL. Much better situations for him.
  3. He was never really interested in being here. Why would he? All we were useful for was a negotiation tool with Michigan.
  4. Those two or Evero over Vrabel. I want someone who hasn't been fired in the last year from the same job we're hiring him for. I think he's tougher than Reich, but I'd rather just go a different direction.
  5. Do we have a Tom Brady in his 20s or 30s? If not, then he's no good to us. He's not really firing on all cylinders. Remember he went a year with an offense without offensive coaches? Pretty much I do not want.
  6. if you have an organization where the ownership backs everything you do and is giving you nothing but support and what you need to get the job done...fine. what we have, though, is an owner that has a deserved reputation of hovering and micromanaging and midseason. the biggest obstacle you'll have is the guy that hired you.
  7. we're learning that there's some situations that you can't pay enough to make people want to come in.
  8. first efforts to climb out of a hole are the most unglamorous ones.
  9. y'all need to get used to the idea that we aren't going to interview anyone else aside from these three because most won't consider this to be a good option. Slowik is likely going to take the Ben Johnson route and stand pat for another year while Ben Johnson and other guys have better situations interested in them. True, there's nothing flashy about guys like Evero, Canales, and Morris, but they could all easily be, in their own rights, better than what we've had in years. All three are good about getting a lot out of their players. Canales would probably be a lot more useful to us as far as getting a QB ready to be a winner here, but i think all of them are definitely respectable. we aren't the cool catch that can get any hyped up HC we want, so we have to set the bar at respectable.
  10. definitely possible. canales is the best hope we have for something different, and even then we might have much of the same staff, esp. on defense and special teams. best chance we have of making sure we are fully staffed is by putting a chain on the doors and not letting anyone out, because we sure won't have too many other than the most desperate trying to get in here. hell, i'd even go so far as to say that we wouldn't be able to upgrade any position except HC and maybe OC (if Canales brought his own guy in). Not that the guys we still have employed are spectacular at their jobs, it's just that we wouldn't be able to get anyone better in here.
  11. agreed with this, and this might be enough. he's a good enough and progressive offensive mind that he can keep us ahead of the curve, but he also has, form what it seems, a simpler/QB friendly system for struggling QBs and in that we would benefit. i like the philosophy he has of building a system around what the players you have exceed at and feel good doing, stuff that's in their wheelhouse. combine that with his motivational and communicative style of leadership and we could have someone really good to help build a more competitive culture. if he doesn't get this HC this year, he's going to get one in the very near future and it won't be due to being one of the top OCs in the league, but because of what he brings as a leader in the teams he's worked with.
  12. not buying into anything until i see results (wins). i will be hopeful that we get things figured out, but there's no way i'm betting or counting on it. odds are it's another fail.
  13. on one hand, it's great that we got a GM that was part of the good part of our history who was such a big player in the creating the culture we used to have. really, is there anyone better to help regain that culture and build the team. and there's a possibility that morgan was shrewdly playing along with whatever to angle himself into a place where he could one day be GM, because i think that's probably been his goal once he got into the administrative side of things years ago. if all of that is true, then this was a good hire. he did play a part in the building of a couple good teams, of course he did play a part in the building of the worst team the panthers have ever fielded, which leads to the the other hand... the other hand, it could also be that were it not for the fact that he is a former panther and wasn't already also a known commodity to that there's no way he would have gotten the GM job here had he not been1) a former panther and 2) familiar to tepper and seen as someone who was easily pushed to do whatever the leader bidded (which doesn't exactly fit the dan morgan persona we knew as a player). it's easier to believe the other hand based on what we've seen since tepper got control and the way he has maintained control at a micro level. truthfully, we won't really know until we see results one way or the other.
  14. Haha you really can't help yourself, can you? Bye again.
  15. Probably, but I was more thinking of a Suleiman replacement. A cap/contract guy. Like Tillis or Khai Harley from NOS (this one is unlikely because it would be a lateral move for him, but it would hurt them).
  16. Here's one thing to consider, Morgan has a vested interest in this team. He's got a personal attachment to this team and he's a part of it's history. I get a feeling he's going to want to fight to get this team back to where it used to be and the biggest opponent he'll be have is a know-it-all owner. I'm hoping he takes the fight to Tepper.
  17. fitt did more to better quite a few teams while here than he ever did us.
  18. only solace for me is that it was last year when we didn't know that we didn't know what we were doing, but we were confident. it's got to be different this time, right?
  19. good for him. he'll be a good one. hope it's not the falcons, though.
  20. well that makes things a bit clearer on what/who is coming.
