Buccaneers Interested In Manziel

I've watched both of them play.

One won the heisman the pinnacle of college sports achievement as a freshman

and the other didn't.

It's painfully clear who was the better college qb

You can't see past your bias

Good god you don't get it

Besides Cam and RG3 the last 10-15 Heisman winners have done jackshit in the NFL

Stop bringing that up

When you look at the goddamn film you can see one qb methodically taking apart defenses and the other qb playing with the best offensive talent in college football and running around loosy goosy

No you don't get it. We aren't talking about nfl. We are talking about who was the superior COLLEGE qb. Which is clearly manziel as he won the highest honor in college football for being the best player in the sport.

Much of Manziels success was scrambling around on broken plays against teams with suspect pass rushes. He is nothing special in a traditional NFL offense where he has to get the ball out quickly. He could be effective but he won't have a team which can hide his shortcomings.

this is exactly what Wilson does in the NFL

doesnt make sense

lovie was a miserable failure at drafting/developing QBs (grossman and orton)

signed mccown who he is familiar and comfortable with, named him starter immediately over a somewhat promising rookie from previous regime

doubt they take a young QB at all

probably just meeting with the top QBs to get a vibe on which teams want which QBs

I think Bridgewater will last. The way he breaks down defenses is amazing and at the level of border-line elite QBs. His accuracy is questionable and people are worried about how small he is, but I think that could be improved with a great coach. If the Cards were to draft Bridgewater and have him learn a year or two under Palmer I could see them being a dynasty team.

Bridgewater is also smoke and mirrors. Bridgewater on the surface looks like a complete QB but if you start to break him down you see this. He would be much better off if he was going in the lower round of the NFL draft and to a team that ran a up tempo or WCO. Bridgwater possesses very good accuracy on short and intermediate throws but lacks arm strength and the biggest problems are his hands. In the NFL defenders don't go for the sack they go for the ball and he is going to be a fumbling machine if not protected well. Also unlike Manziel, Bridgwater may have peeked running the offence he does under the coach he played for he might never get any better.

Cam is in his own universe. Stop using manziel and Cam in the same paragraph. Race played a big role in Cam's draft process. Manziel, not! Just an under-talented guy embarrassing himself. That dude should be humble, he has everything working against him with his short comings.

Not only that.

But NFL people had Cam as the number one pick (despite what the non knowing media was saying/didn't tell you all along), and he was! And remember, there were some very good players/prospects in Cam's draft.

Not sure Manziel is the number one pick in 2014 draft, along with not having the physical ability and success that Cam did, going undefeated  winning the National championship while putting up crazy QB numbers in the process.

That Auburn team was an average college team by most accounts, which not many expected any thing from. Cam was the difference! Everyone knew it. And he had the physical skills, work ethic, leadership and football brains worthy of a #1 pick.

Can't say all the same for Manziel in comparison (though I can see why it's made).

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
