Cam gets 5th year

The GOAT for another year of chump change?  I'm down and love the new CBA.  Thanks JR.  Then let an inferior Kaep set the market.  Followed by Wilson (neither of whom have the 5th year option to exercise).  Sure, we're gonna have to pay Cam and keep him happy in doing so but business is business.

Thanks JR? Gettleman is making this decision.

Anybody who thinks he'll want to leave is a moron. He understands the game and clearly is more than happy to be a Panther and in Charlotte. He's never indicated he'd want to leave and that's not the type of man he is. He's definitely just happy to finally be winning.

Exactly. And he said the other day that he realizes the 5th year helps his playoff chances and is more than happy with it.

The fifth year is hardly "chump change," his cap hit would more than double (14.7m) under the option year. It's just an insurance policy until they get a long-term deal done.

It's all relative. Chump change for the GOAT.

To every one who keeps saying he is going to leave, think about it. How many times in the past has a top flight Qb left the team he was on? Anytime they leave its because the team runs them off, like the Colts did to Manning. You don't see Luck, Rodgers, Brady or Brees running to another team just because the team won't get them weapons. If you listen to a Qb then the other 10 guys on the field would be WRs or TEs.

I figured this would get some goats.  lol  ...  heard the same crap about Peppers being an NC guy and a panther for life.  "That's not the type of man he is"  ... LOL.  I guess you know him personally now.

The morons are the serendipitous fans that have blind faith in past / present management and believe once a team drafts a player, he is there for life.  He hasn't said he wants to leave ... Of course he is not going to say he wants to leave ... too much of a s**tstorm.  The line is he won't comment on contracts b/c he is solely focused on winning.  That's football-talk.  He's not foolish enough to address it either way.  However, if this year is a step backwards and he only has the option year left, ya never know.
