We didn't do Cam any favors, and if this is it we're gonna have some problems

top dawg

The tackle class was horrible after the top 3-4 guys. Everyone after that is a developmental pick, a guard or just not very good skill set wise for the NFL.

These same people would have jumped for joy using our 3rd round pick on Hurst or Richardson.

Both of whom went undrafted.

And I'm willing to be they'd be willing to dump our 3rd round pick (Turner) even now for the chance to get one of their beloved undrafted OTs.  It really is hilarious.

it's amazing to read so many people saying the same thing in their overly verbose draft analyzes:

  • I don't get this draft
  • I agree we got great value
  • Player x rated well, player y rated well
  • I wanted player z, but I suppose player x rated better
  • I don't get this draft

what don't you get?  everyone spins around in circles in their own analysis.  they say they don't understand why we drafted player x, but then they themselves answer their own questions by continuing with how that player was a good value and will likely be a long term contributor.

I've read this same analysis several times this weekend.  read what you are saying...we got great value from our picks and they will hopefully/likely/who knows/ show long term contribution to this team.  If you can get great long term value with every pick you make, you're  a god damn draft god.

Not gonna lie, I feel similar top dawg. However in retrospect we got Trai Turner and Benjamin added to an already overhauled offense with a line only missing an RT IMO but the good news is that we have the same as last year. I'm hedging a lot on chandler but I think we found a gem with him.

Cotchery and Avant are perfectly fine reliable vets to have and McNutt and King are basically 2 4-6 round picks for us.

I was as excited about them as some of he later rounders this year.. Even a little more in kings case.

I'm starting to think DG and staff do not want Cam having a beast pass protection line and by design! We all know Cam does his best work under pressure, minus throwing off the back foot.

1) do we cater to where he does his best work(scrambling out of the pocket) and get some sure handed, high point WR and build our line for the run?

2) get the beast line that has cam secure in the pocket and allow him to force the ball into tight coverage(which he can do well at times)

Point blank, when Cam starts moving LBs and DBs allow their coverage to relax fearing Cam is about to rip a 15 yard gain. The only flaw in truly respecting Cam as a scrambler is he tends to over shoot his target. Now, high point WR are gonna make the D nervous for if you relax coverage then you will get burnt. Sticking to coverage just allows Cam those extra tenths of a second to make even more happen.

Either way, stud OL is not playing to a strength for Cam. Cam does his best work under pressure. DG just needed to connect all the dots for Cam.

Lol naw

I think the future/our financial crisis limited us

Mixed with DG and RR being defensive minded

And

Them having actually having faith in our current oline if people believe it or not

Gonna have to disagree here.

You can move Cam around by design if you want to and still provide him protection.

I can understand some people wanted an OT but if our scout staff felt like they couldn't play dead in a John Wayne movie why would you draft someone you don't think will cut it in the NFL, or draft someone who had red flags on knee issues. How have we fared lately with O-line with bad legs?? That is also wasting a draft pick just to say "hey we got someone"

If we truly think Ealy was a first round talent, we got a first round DE at pick 60. If we can't extend Hardy or restructure CJ we have eliminated a future need with a talent that might not be available when we pick next season, or we end up with an inferior talent.

That flexibility also allows us to not panic and overpay like we may have done with CJ.

Using draft picks on bad or broken players just to say we got one will lead. If you are constantly drafting out of fear you are doing it wrong
