AT&T Buying DirecTV for $48.5B

this blows.  DTV is one of the few giants that gets customer service right.

Hmmm, I've had DirecTV for almost 15 years now and have never spoken with anyone outside the US. I've moved with them twice, within 6 months I might add with no issues. I can honestly say I've never been on the phone for more than 15 minutes with anyone from DirecTV.

I really feel like they are one of the few services I pay for that I actually have some confidence in.

Agreed - that was my experience as well. Had them for 5 years and recently cancelled because of price, but the service was always good.

Just read that nothing will change for Sunday Ticket until the current contract runs out in I believe 2015-2016. Then it's back to bidding.

My question is how will this affect my area where they don't even have ATT&T? Will I no longer get service or will they continue to allow us to use DirecTV as a separate service?
