2014 Game by Game Analysis

Recommended Posts

wow ive never been called a homer before.... and i dont think i said it would be a walk in the park. i know Stafford and Megatron can torch a team. but that didnt stop them from losing to terrible competition last season. the Panthers are a good bit better than terrible. maybe the Lions make it difficult for the Panthers. but if we contained the likes of Brees and Brady last year, we can contain Stafford no problem. i stand by my prediction.

Contained Brees and Brady? Brady was 4 yards away from a 300 yard game against y'all. On top of that, they had over 100 yards rushing in that game.

Brees had a 4 TD, 300+ yard game against y'all last season. That is definitely not containing.

The other game he struggled, but there were other factors at play besides the panthers defense...PanthersFan.gif

He wasn't doing poo before or after the rain either.  As a matter of fact, his best drive of the game came when it was still lightly raining: the TD drive to Jimmy Graham.  His numbers would've been even worse if it wasn't for the onside kick and our limp dick offensive showing that kept giving them chance after chance to rack up stats.  Hence why the Saints had so many yards, but no points to show for it.

The game against Brady we were containing them pretty damn well until CJ got leg whipped, and coincidentally Brady started moving the ball after that since our pass rush fell off.  0 points before CJ went down IIRC (I might be wrong on that one, but it was only 3 points at the very most).

The first game against Brees CJ was still injured, and it was just a bad showing by the defense altogether--by far the worst of the season, and one of the worst in recent memory.  Sloppy play, missed tackles, blown assignments, etc... combined with it being in the dome on primetime which they always seem to play like the fuging MonStars from Space Jam.

The Saints are build for that dome.  They are much different outside the dome.   I think we split with NO. with home teams winning.   I believe the defense will keep us in most of these games.  N.O. and G.B. are so high powered we have to be on our "A" game offensively.

The only issue I have is when you state 50 and 60 points and win.  We give up that many points.  I don't see us winning any game where that many points are scored.  Unless we are winning big and the other teams scores a couple late TDs to make it interesting.

As long as our defense stays healthy we will win more than we lose. 10-6 minimum.

People must be forgetting that we will have an ELITE defense which alone will have us in almost every game.

As for what we will win, I havent looked at our schedule but I am predicting any where between 10-13 wins.

Doesn't help that we have a lame duck OC.

EDIT* Just had a look and man we have a tough schedule. Getting to 11-5 will be an accomplishment imo.

Best case - 12-4

Worst case - 10-6

^^ That is assuming our OL is decent and that our WR core plays better than expected.

If Hardy sits the first 4......it will have an impact on that D.

We dominated last year bc we stayed surprisingly healthy.

Look at the night and day difference of how NE moved the ball when we lost a DE for most of a half

We are risking one of the all-time embarrassing moments (in a game situation) in franchise history in week three when the Steelers show up on worldwide tv for SNF, and knowing 90% of our wine and cheese slurpers, especially those in the club level, won't want to be out after dark and won't want to miss their eggs benedict Monday morning before 8, and will sell out to a bunch of smelly uneducated Steeler fans, B of A will be 2/3rd's black and gold with those ghey fuging towels waving in the air.  The only solace to avoid a full embarrassment will be to whip their asses and put Ben Rapistburger in Carolinas Med in traction.

That being said IMHO I believe the swing game to the entire season will be the Bears game here in week 5....we will be staring at a four game gauntlet after that game before the bye week of at CIN, at GB, SEA, and NO.  Even if we start out slow after the first four at 2-2, winning the Bears game and getting to 3-2 (or better), will be key.  Screw the pooch against da Bears and the wheels could fall off rather quickly thereafter.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
