NFL.com article-Peppers best player in team history.

Smitty makes much more sense, especially when you throw in longevity.

Longevity wise doesn't really tilt things much....

Pep had production year after year after year. Yes, people wanted more....but he still had it. He had double digit stats year after year....and all kinds of other crazy stats like INTs, blocked kicks etc padded on those seasons.

Pep wins the stat debate especially when looking season after season.

89 the flare, heart, etc debates

That is just pure BS right there, Peppers is more dominant than any of those guys, and when their careers are all said and done, Peppers will have accomplished more than any.

i'm talking about the way it was discussed in the media not his specific worth as a player dumbass

how did your DPoY prediction for peppers work out by the way

Are you looking at all time in the league or solely time with the Panthers?

Anytime we're talking about a 'best Panther' question, i exclude anything done outside of this team.

You sir, are not very smart. I'm sure Peppers could accomplish all that he has in the NFL by "not caring". LOL

Says "not very smart"

Doesn't have reading comprehension.

My quote was in reference to what happened to Peppers' last year here when he didn't do anything (other than get benched during a high profile game).

Please, go back and read the comment before you hit reply. It'll save everyone the trouble of you making an ass of yourself. Dumbass.

hey hey that's enough!

you can troll the boards, you can spam entire articles from outside sources with no credit over and over again, but you do not use the "a" word

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2011-07-04-top-10-defensive-ends_n.htm

Yet last season Julius Peppers demonstrated he was fully capable of embodying Jones' notion of a complete defensive end during a career rebirth after signing with the Chicago Bears. Peppers was ranked as the game's best defensive end by USA TODAY Sports Weekly's panel of NFL writers and editors. Regarded primarily as a sack master during his first eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Peppers also was a force in shutting down opposing backfields in the Bears' 4-3 defensive alignment in 2010.

When Chicago raced to a 4-1 start in October, Pro Football Weekly splashed the powerful end on its cover and proclaimed him, "The Newest Monster of the Midway." Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, Peppers' highly decorated teammate, called him the best defensive player in the NFL.

He even pleased at least one tough critic.

"Julius Peppers impresses me as much as anyone," Jones says. "He has it all."

i meant when he was a panther

also answer the second question please

He had 6 10+ sack seasons while in Carolina.....and in of those padded it with INTs, FFs etc.

89 hit double digit TDs once. 89 was always more of a yardage and tone setter who made timely plays.

Pep wins the stat sheet battle in Carolina over 89. Stats are what drives most discussions when players are discussed outside of fanbases.

    • Still working on consuming all of these so I don't have summaries available, but I figured there might be another Huddler or three trying to kill time before tonight's final preseason game.   Panthers Blueprint: Training Camp The in-house produced Blueprint series has given behind-the-scenes look on the field and off. Start the day with Robert Hunt's family, be in the morning meetings, mic'd up players during practice (Jaycee, Rozeboom, Icky, and Bryce), roster evaluations by the staff, and plenty of camp highlights capping off with FanFest.   Processing Blue (Mike Kaye & Alex Zietlow Mike and Alex are back talking about a variety of topics including but not limited to: joint practice + preseason game vs. Houston, Trey Hendrickson trade rumors involving Carolina, training camp awards, draft pick draft, and various thoughts about the team.   Jordan & Jake 706: Opening Day Another in-house Panthers' production, the most recent episode of Jordan and Jake talk about how to properly balance intensity in practice, react to the starters being shutdown for the preseason finale, share their thoughts on the newest Panther QB, and more.   Raw Room - Ep 278 - Gas Pedal (ft. Mike Davis) Assistant special teams' coach Darren Bates' Raw Room podcast has former Panthers' RB Mike Davis on his weekly podcast. I'm about halfway through this one and it's been a lot of fun. The Raw Room guys (DB, his friend Alex Sweets, former Eagles/Chargers OT King Dunlap, and former Atlanta DB Jalen Collins) are hilarious and Mike fits right in. They talk about his football experience coming up, decommitting from Florida and how he decided on South Carolina, and more. Warning: If you're the type of person that is easily distracted by accents, despite XL being on the team, you might have issues with understanding the Memphis dialect. If you don't care about how somebody talks, just what they're talking about, tune in!
    • Allen was borderline unplayable in College.  He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.
    • It's a step up in competition as well. The gap in athletic skill is narrowed from what was faced at the college level.
