What soccer websites do you visit for news, rumors, stats, etc?

Recommended Posts

I don't spend as much time as I used to online tracking news, rumors, etc, but I still visit Ives Galarcep's site pretty regularly for US-related news, and still probably spend too much time tracking player values and other stuff on Transfermarkt. Occasionally check the Daily Mail (trash, I know) and Sky Sports for EPL stuff, usually on game day. Statto for basic stats and analysis. I don't play fantasy soccer, so I'm sure there are lots of good sites out there with stats and player ratings that I've never visited.

So...where do y'all go for all things soccer?

I used to follow SkySports pretty heavily, but they have even begun rumor-mongering. I follow Tony Barrett on Twitter for LFC transfer news.

A few general rules for transfer rumors:

1) Avoid Marca at all costs.

2) Be aware of fake twitter accounts.

3) No, that player probably has not always loved your club.

4) Don't believe anything is a done deal until the player is photographed at your training ground leaning on stuff.

Pretty much. Arsenal is linked with almost every player every year. poo, Nuri Sahin even took a medical, agreed on terms and posed for team picture and Dortmund changed their mind in last minute and Sahin signing did not happen.

Arsen, what sites do you visit? Not so much for rumors, just news, analysis, etc.

I use google and Fox Soccer twitter.

Google: I just type in Arsenal, search and click news button next to images. It gives me all latest news on Arsenal...

I also visit arsenal mania website too see what other arsenal fans are saying. Arsenal mania is very similar to Carolina huddle.

Fox Soccer twitter usually pretty reliable and always twits news and rumors.

Speaking of Marca....

Basically says Carlo and Flo have agreed to go after Suarez even without selling Benzema. While I don't doubt that we're going to at least make a run at Suarez, there's no chance we're keeping Benz if we get him.

While it's Marca, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been expecting a bid from Real pretty much all year. Bring that paper and we'll ship him out.

ESPNFC

Which is weird because other than reading Grantland's articles on TV shows I watch I generally avoid ESPN.

Other the that I just read whatever my friend sends me.  I like soccer and Bayern but he is obsessed so anything worthwhile he beats me to it.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
