I don't think Byron is as bad as everybody is saying, he's obviously not great though. My hope is that chandler wins the job come game 1.

There is a lot of hyperbolic comments on bell though. Scheme will be the difference, not Bell.

If I'm being honest, I think this is a wildcard team as it sits right now.  The only reason I don't say they win the division is because I think the rest of the division improved more than we did.  Add in a stopgap LT and I think we're right at the top of the division again.

 

One thing I would have liked to see would have been for Wharton to come back and enter the LT mix.  He was serviceable in the past and I would be interested to see if he would be an improvement over Bell/Chandler.  If not, kick him to LG and see if Silatolu would pick it up.  I know that many think it's possible he's "holding out" so he can miss TC but I think the tackle scenario would be out of play at that point.  It would be either beat out Silatolu for the LG position or become quality depth (I think LG is Turner's to lose).  I don't know he'd sign to be a backup.

It's easy to sugar coat the situation in June, but that will quickly disappear in September.

I agree that Bell gets picked on a more than he deserves but his strength has been in the run game.  Moving him over to LT just puts more emphasis on his weak spot.  You can scheme around his shortcomings but unless this left handed thing (nonsense IMHO) comes to fruition then I'd rather see him on the right side.

I understand there's a difference between LT & RT but unless you think Chandler is miles ahead of Bell then he should be at RT since he's right-handed by your logic.

Fair enough.  I should have said "their" logic.  I don't claim to know more than any coach, GM, etc. but I just think if there were any merit that you would hear more about such and such player really elevating their game after making the switch to their dominant hand side.  It's just the usual misinformation is what I'm trying to say I guess.

If our OTs are as bad as some fear, we may not have Cam for the whole season.  I really hope Chandler can win the LT spot because I have nightmares about Bell consistently facing speed rushing REs and pass rushing 3-4 OLBs.  I just keep remembering what Mario Williams did to him last year...
