Because silly, giants are from New York but they only travel in Jets while Titans, according to classical literature, hail from the western side of the smokey mountains in the mid-atlantic region of what is now called Tennessee. Every mascot can be traced back to its specific geographical location. Hence the Carolina (cats that don't exist) Panthers.

My favorite part of the article was when he presented the actual reason for how the Titans got their name, and his response is, "phooey".  Like the real reasoning behind it wasn't good enough for him.

Friend of mine has a neighbor in rural Davidson County (near Lexington where OP's link had a sighting), and swears he saw a black cat 3 or 4 years ago while walking back from his deer stand one evening... A little freaked out, he put up a trail cam and caught a glimpse of a long black tail.

 

Heard another supposed sighting near Camp Lejeune back in 2006 before they cut off the public access road into Carteret County.
