Underrated/Overrated

Which NFL players are the most overrated or underrated?

Overrated: Matt Ryan is my first choice. People claim he is on the verge of being elite, but wouldn't most quarterbacks be almost elite with two #1 WR's and a #2 playing slot?

Underrated: Matt Forte is on the top of my list because of his constant production. Yet he doesn't get any media attention that he deserves.

Love Forte. But hes one of the worst pass blocking RBs in the league. So when he gets rated low on those top 100 lists and stuff, thats why.

Overrated:

Kaepernick

Foles

Welker

Julius Thomas

DeMarco Murray

Talib

Chris Johnson

Underrated:

TD

Doug Baldwin

Andre Holmes

Ladarius Green

Kam Chancellor

DeAndre Hopkins

Jordy Nelson

You think Welker is overrated?

Yeah, that's wrong IMO. Welker is a damn hard worker, did it the hard way. He's underrated if anything. Are his stats inflated because he played with Brady and Manning? Sure. Its not like he's making a ton of cash either, i'd gladly pay that contract.

Two year, 12 million dollars? To do what? Have a white version of Steve Smith? I'll pass. He's a dick and stop watching his Old Spice commercials.

Last year wasn't really Matt Ryan's fault. He had a poo OL blocking for him and he lost Julio mid way. Roddy white is also sliding down into a WR2. Eli is a 2 time superbowl champ and he played like poo last year because of his OL.

I am not a fan of Ryan but he did do a great job taking the falcons to the playoffs the past few years.

So you'd balk at paying a guy 6 mill that has averaged over 1,000 yards and 8TD's over the last 4 years. OK.

People here were losing it for letting Smitty walk and he hasn't put up 8 TD's in a season since 06. Plus, we'd be paying him 30 mill over the next 3 years had we kept him.

Welker is a bargain for his production. He's getting screwed because of the "slot" WR label but that is where the mismatches are in the modern NFL.

It'll be interesting to see how Smitty fares in that role next year.

Underrated - Greg Olsen, quietly getting it done in Carolina.

I was watching something on NFL Network the other day and they were talking about the most valuable TE in the NFL.  One of the commentators actually named Greg Olsen.  He said that while he's not in the same class as a Jimmy Graham, in terms of value to the team, he's going to be the key to our offensive success this year after leading the team in receptions last year and now returning as the only proven producing pass catcher in our offense.  I was floored.  About the first time I've ever heard Olsen get his due props from the national media.

1) a players contract has nothing to do with being under/over rated. If that was the case, every guy still on a rookie contract (about 33% of the league), could be called underrated.

2) no one one here was sad to see Smitty go because of his production. That was gone years ago. It was the emotional attachment people had after 13 years with him, that made the release heartbreaking.

Look you can come to Colorado and blow Welker all you want. I'm sure there is a Broncos fan forum somewhere

    • It’s Rod’s system that fails in the playoffs.    mvm works during regular season because its effort and skill related and most teams suck.    come playoffs the effort and skill difference aren’t that big. So having lapses where forwards don’t rotate quickly to cover pinching defenders ends up costing the team over and over.    pk is aggressive and teams with skill can make you pay over a series where in the regular season it won’t.    why does it work in one but not the other?    1. lot of bad to awful teams in the NHL 2. it’s a unique system that isn’t seen much, so teams aren’t used to it nor get a ton of practice against it.    Once teams know they are playing you in a series, they’ll practice specifically for your system.    Then bada bing, system looks awful
    • Facts. We looked gased in that third. His system just doesn’t work in the playoffs.
