problem is Cam doesn't deserve a contract like Kaps. He's already earned security.

 

my only hope is his love of winning will some how give us a bit of a break. Although i wouldn't blame him at all if he didn't do that.

Supposedly only 20 guaranteed.  If that's the case, Cam isn't gonna get paid like we think.  At least he shouldn't.

I disagree. Cam, other than Luke, is the player for this franchise, it begins, and ends with him. He has all the leverage. The only way we see Cam do that is if he himself decides to take a very team friendly deal, but the idea that we can basically strong arm him is preposterous.

It's the new trend for QBs who have no leverage lol. You offer Kap and Dalton and Cam to the 32 GMs in the league and every one of them is going to take Cam. Both of those QBs have played on better teams than Cam their entire careers.

You don't approach Cam the way you approach those two. I'm sure Gettleman knows that.

kaepernick's and dalton's deals are essentially pay as you go contracts...sweeten the contract's incentives and no player who believes they can meet the criteria will hesitate to sign.

i'm not saying newton will get a deal like this...i'm saying don't be surprised if he does. only someone like hurney would go against the grain of a building trend.

this format would have been a godsend when double trouble inked their deals.
