At 32 he is one of the oldest RBs in the league.  He ran for 4 yards per carry last year, when he was younger (Don't laugh, a year is a lot for a rb).  RBs hit the wall fast and hard.

It truly was a lifetime ago.

I have to admit, it will be nice to get back to (or closer to, at least) the average in RB spending. I just fear change!!

They should have a gridiron adaptation of the hangover where Williams, Tolbert and Barner try to figure out where Stewart went missing from the field 2 years ago

Perfect.

Williams will be 32. He was meh last year...will be a tad worse than meh this year....so in 2015 he should be done.

Unless 28 plays 16 games this year we should part with him too.

Tolbert stays

If we find a better RB then yes, but from what I've seen he's still productive going into this season. I would keep Williams while we develop his replacement and of course Tolbert stays as i said in my 1st post. Tolbert is our FB, who's getting paid as a top FB and/or low to mid RB.

Can't wait for their salaries to be off the books and them to be retired or on another team. Except Tolbert. This team will be so better when they're gone and we make RB a value position like every other team, and we can spend at other positions, just wait and see.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
