The "allure" of the preseason home game

I've never gone to a preseason home game for two reasons:

-Paying full price is absolutely insane to me. I just looked at Stubhub and there are plenty of cheap tickets to be had right now, but still, I wouldn't spend more than $10. You can currently pay $700+ for some Row 1 tickets Friday or you can spend gas money and go to Spartanburg for free on Thursday and get even closer to the players and coaches.

- Even if I had free tickets, I still think I would get more out of watching these games at home on my TV. Preseason football is all about analysis. I'll be hopping in the Huddle chat room Friday night and talking about what I'm seeing along with the other people there. That's a lot easier to do with the game broadcast plus DVR even with the new awesome video boards at the stadium.

So what reasons do you have for going to these preseason games? Unless you just want to tailgate and hang out with your buddies (which I DO get), I don't understand.

I know what you mean. I had the opportunity to go but I chose not to. I find that during the preseason, I'm so geeked for panther football, I want to watch every play up close. Plus my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant so the last thing I want is to be shitfaced uptown and get a call that she's going into labor.

Kind of selfish on her part, now that I think about it.

Don't you just love the half-turns and squinted faces the polo shirt and nike athletic shorts combo wearing soccer mom and her brood of 4 chuckle head Perrier water drinking kids and totally effeminate husband who you listen to trying to explain who the guy is with the ball and why, while completely butchering the concept of the game to these numb nuts. Meanwhile I'm pulling my hair out pounding beers to keeps from putting my foot to the back side of one of their skulls.

Ghjyrsxbjioljtgsghsxazaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I must've blacked out for a sec...

What was the question again?

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
