#1 in the South again

I post here fairly often. Not everyday, but I'm here reading everyday. I mostly stick to Saints related topics, although not all the time.

It's funny you keep bringing up the fan base, when the very website you're pointing to as the proof our fan base is shrinking says we have the 3rd best fan base in the league. Strictly from a numbers standpoint.

By the way, true Saints fans could care less about the bandwagoners. Every successful team gets them. When they leave, true fans will still be here.

You are here in this thread to show how strrrrong willed your Saints fans are and how classy you are. You wouldnt have responded with something meaningless like " I dont care derpy derp" otherwise right? The point of the article was to show how fan bases are forming and dissipating. You took that as fighting words and decided to let those Panther's fans that youre gonna stick your chest out with pride.

Youre a loyal Saints fan and by golly all the Panthers fans need to know that. . unfortunately, it was a pointless comment for the reasons I said before.

Whats funny is your obvious lame attempt to look strong made you look weak and defensive.

All I said was I don't care how much our owners make! Holy poo! Get worked up much? I'm not being defensive, if anyone is it's you. I never said, or implied anything you wrote in your post lol.

Jesus Christ man, lighten up.

Somebody just paid 2 billion for the Clippers, the Clippers. Are they really telling me that the Patriots are only worth 500 million more. I don't get that. And the 49ers are worth less than the Clippers?

Regardless of how traditionally bad they have been it's still a professional sports team on the rise in LOS ANGELES...one of the biggest markets in the U.S! Has to play a factor....I'm pleasantly surprised with how high the panthers are, as long as we aren't losing money we are doing something right!

From a 3rd party's perspective here: you need to chill out man, I don't know how you deduced all that from his harmless comment but you're getting worked up over nothing.

Tell me what part sounded worked up to you. Wow, you sound like you may have some issues.

You are now projecting a lot of insecurities on to me.

Hmm? not sure what you mean, maybe you should re-read it to get a better understanding of tone. Or maybe you should understand who has an agenda here and who was merely posting some info for his Panther's friends.

It matters because its directly applicable to how big your fan base is. When I look at that data year after year I can tell how many fair weather fans each team has. I can tell how many youre losing or gaining and get signs as to where they are going.

that would be an incorrect way to look at it. Here is how the teams did from the 2013 Forbes list to the 2014 Forbes list. The Falcons jumped the Saints, despite the Falcons going 4-12 and the Saints going 11-5. Also, note the Bucs are higher than the Falcons and Saints despite the Bucs being irrelevant for the last decade while the Falcons and Saints have been doing very well in recent history (Falcons went to playoffs in 2002, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and Saints went to playoffs in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013)

NFC South

$1.25 billion - Panthers (up from $1.06 billion)

$1.23 billion - Bucs (up from $1.07 billion)

$1.13 billion - Falcons (up from $0.93 billion)

$1.11 billion - Saints (up from $1.00 billion)

Note how those metro areas rank by GDP

#10 in US - Atlanta ($295 billion)

#21 in US - Charlotte ($137 billion)

#24 in US - Tampa ($120 billion)

#40 in US - New Orleans ($85 billion)

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._metropolitan_areas_by_GDP

New Orleans doesn't have near the wealth of the rest of the cities in the NFC South yet their football team is right up with the rest of the NFC South in value. That is a strong fanbase and a big football town. Meanwhile, Atlanta is by far the wealthiest city in the NFC South while their team isn't....that is a crappy fanbase.

Ahh thanks for the research, relativity means everything doesnt it? Well on previous Forbes lists I have seen the aints rank much higher. I have to look again but I thought the Falcons were always last in our division on these Forbes lists.

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
