I'm not all on the Hill bandwagon, but what makes Bersin so untouchable?

Good Camp, grew in our system, young guy, and just needs to be given a chance.  Avant/Cotchery/Brown are far more expendable IF you need to cut a Receiver either due to age, or just making a roster spot to return punts.  Heck, I'll personally teach Fozzy how to call for a fair catch every punt or bobble it every time like Brown did.  We finally have a potential young diamond in the rough at WR, lets not throw him away.

Try again big guy. Receiver with good size that gets open and catches everything thrown his way.

I mean, we've never seen the guy against starting DBs in a real NFL game. There's also guys out there, just released, with the same size and more speed.

Let's be real: bersin isn't going to contribute ever.

Cut him and bring in the guy that physically fits the bill.

Lets be real: Stephen Hill has proven he cannot contribute at the NFL level. Teams do ot cut cut first round picks for fun and giggles.

Bersin has shown he has the ability to compete, lean and improve to get to this level. He even played so well he could be considered for the number 2 wr position if we did not sign the vets.

And I was a Stephen Hill fan In the draft!

So, you're saying that, if a better player came available today, you wouldn't sign him, because Bersin has been on our practice squad?

Not at all, I'm saying he's not at the bottom of the depth chart IMO.  You cut someone else who has performed at a lower level and has more mileage on them than a good young talent.  I'd be all for watching him slide down the depth chart because we end up with better talent, but I don't think it's smart to cut him right now.

He's obviously below KB/Cotchery/Avant and Philly will have a jersey for returns. He's pretty far down the depth chart.

I don't think he should be below Cotch/Avant

Just judging by where he was playing in preseason, versus both Cotchery and Avant, he's definitely below them on the depth chart.

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Philly. I believe that if you bobble punts in preseason, you're going to do it in the regular season. He's the one guy I'd look to replace, but he should only be cut if we're sure we have found someone to replace his return abilities.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
