Goodell will be fired/resign by next week

As for TV deals, the NFL has already made their money from Disney and Viacom and the like. Sponsors that pull out would largely be impacting these networks that have nothing to do with Goodell. Same goes for people that would boycott the league. It would never happen, but if NFL viewership were to drop off, it would be hurting the companies that air the NFL on their networks and not the NFL.

This is the key.  If the special interest groups start cranking up the heat on the major sponsors and the media jumps on that bandwagon too, all bets are off.

Goodell actually suspended Rice for two games. People are behaving like he didn't act at all. Besides why the outrage at Goodell? How about law enforcement? They let Ray Rice go. Since when is Goodell the law enforcer of the land? This whole thing has no legs. It's blow over in a week.

sad stuff bro and I truly hope she comes to her senses. this is truly a father's and brother's toughest issue concerning women in their family. My best friend had a cousin who was dating this thug dude that beat the crap out of her and she would not leave him. so eventually my friend tried to stand up for her and it ended with the thug and his goons jumping him. they pulled his shirt over his head and pounded him out. they were going to shoot him but he got away. she later screamed at him for helping her and continued dating and getting smacked around. I felt so bad for him because he had to walk around with his face messed up and the chick could car less. smh

Damn, that's fuged up. Yeah, I've stood up for her for as long as I can. She kept getting mad at me (of all people) for interferring with her life. Eventually, (as hard as it was), I let her be. This is the reality of things. Of course I'm not saying that most women are like this, but to think that this doesn't go on is naive.

The NFL makes a chunk of it's money from TV deals. As long as people are watching; viewership, that bottom line will not be impacted.

The Fmr CEO of Mozilla made a chunk of money from JavaScript. Pretty much every website uses it... he's still became a former CEO because enough people threatened to stop buying/using other products he was associated with.

I disagree. People have a hard-on for hating Goodell as if he isn't merely the puppet of the owners. They blame him for less TD celebrations, the "wimpification" of the league, etc. They feel like they finally have a chance to strike.

why does this necessarily precipitate his ouster

Well. I'm just sayin ..an NFL exec received video last April ... That means Goddell either knew about this video and chose to look the other way hoping it would go away, or this NFL exec buried the video hoping this would go away. Either way, it now looks like this man with a reputation of some moral enforcer that dishes out strong punishments for pot smoking and DUIs (not trivializing these offenses at all) is caught with his pants down lying about the existence of evidence that could have meant stronger punishment for what is considered a serous crime in the eyes of the law. This can mean that the NFL and the Ravens essentially swept this under the rug to protect their brand. Mark Cuban was right. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. NFL got too big and these fat cats got greedy. They could have nipped this in the bud easily

Reasonably speaking, I don't think he should step down. Personally however, I hate sanctimonious hypocrites like him on a power-trip, so if he is gone I won't miss him.

I think he will be gone. The reason for that is the state of 21st century journalism that precipitates manufactured outrage in a heartbeat and override any type of due process. Sit back and watch the media pounce

And he claimed that it was only a two game suspension because he hadn't seen the video.  Seeing the video is supposedly what changed his mind.

Huge backlash over the vodeo resulted in the policy change.

If it turns out all that was a lie...

Only thing the NFL cares about taking a beating is their wallets. Sad but true.

Yeah, but like I said dude...if hardcore proof comes out that RG was lying and continued to lie to cover this up...I don't see how any industry, company, entity can continue to keep a person like that as the figure head. It kills all credibility.

With the government involved, all bets are off.
