Weird High blood pressure problem

Stress? Good fats are nuts, fish, avocados...they are a must have. Caffeine is no good, try b vitamins instead. Stress is god awful for your body, could be it.

A multivitamin and fish oil should be taken as a basic as far as supplements.

i try to limit extra but I don't try to avoid it if that makes sense about 2/3 of the time dressing is far free, been trying to avoid butter

AHA. I knew it.

Stop with fat free. Use smart balance butter and olive oil from time to time. You need good fats. Its counterintuitive but it will help you blood pressure.

Eat salmon at least once a week. Get some good bread and dip it some olive oil. But no more fat free dressing man. Lots of stealth carbs but no good fats. Balsamic vinegar dressing from now on.

Eat mixed nuts. Handful a day and no more. Or get those 100 calorie packs of almonds etc. Again you are getting good fats.

Heart attacks and high bp has gone up in the US because we were told to lower calories or go fat free. Cool in canola oil because the ratio for that is perfect for what you need.

will keep that in mind, I'm definitely going to do some diet changes and see what happens.

i do have a high stress job, but work hasn't been bad lately.

.

You don't have to feel stressed to be stressed. Underlining stress, even the smallest things you put in the back of your mind cases it. Kind of like when people feel fine but then all of a sudden have a mid life crisis. Meditation is great to add to diet and exercise. Also, I agree with pstall on avoiding fats, people are on some sort of fat avoiding trend but if it's the right fats, healthy ones, they are crucial to feeling well. I'd definitely cut back on the caffeine though, it is more stress on the body.

Im telling you thats the answer. Notice the questions I asked and you gave textbook answer. Fat free dressing and you AVOID butter. Textbook low LDLs and lipids. Like someone else mentioned, avocado. Get some guacamole. Dude im telling you more good fats and your bp will drop. Not dramatically but it will. Give it a month.

i was 140/100 earlier today about an hour after drinking coffee, at 730pm I was 135/85 last check at 9pm I was 126/77 I can still feel caffeine in my system now and think I'm still a little high.

Last Sunday I rode my bike 30 miles rested for an hour after getting back and my BP was 119/70 didn't drink coffee that day

those aren't very worrisome numbers... the diastolic at 100 might raise a few physicians' eyebrows and they may decide to run some tests for arterial stiffness.

a home remedy you could try would be a folic acid supplement. but if you are truly concerned, you should visit a physician and get his opinion.

eta: pstall's nutrition advice isn't bad

also part of my problem when I have been dieting is that I really in part don't know what I'm doing, some of this is just guess work by me, when I lost weight the first time I went from 270-170 but lost a lot of muscle, and I went back to school and then got this job and put some weight back on, now I've been trying to keep muscle and lose body fat, and have been guessing what to do but don't have a clue what I'm doing. Weight and results have been good so far but the high blood pressure isn't.

The external results from diet/exercise are very easy. The internal is what's difficult.

Here is a quick bullet points list to focus on.

Wild caughe salmon at least once a week.

No more fat free anything.

Mixed nuts at least a handful a day.

Smart balance butter. Put on veggies etc. Or bread.

Dip bread in olive oil.

Balsamic type dressing.

Occasionally a glass or two of red wine from Chile.

More avocado.

Drink minute maid oj that has plant sterols.

Sneak in dark choc for a snack. York peppermennts are good.

Eat high protein breakfast. Eggs and whole wheat toast with smart balance butter. Greek yogurt and fruit. Oatmeal. Stuff like that.

Increase higher intensity cardio. Pay attention to sodium. Lay off lunch meats.

If you go to subway just eat turkey sandwiches no mayo. Add avocado.

This is a good start man.

    • Serious question:  Why LG and not RG?  There may be something I do not know, but Hunt's contract is huge and he could be let go after this season (post june 1 cut) and it would save the Panthers a ton of money.  Extending him would be paying a G who is in his mid 30s guaranteed money (and I do not see that as a terrible thing).  So if we release him at age 31, we save $19m.  I like him, but at 31, will he be worth the mega contract?   LG Damien Lewis has actually outperformed Hunt and he is a year younger.  He would also save less vs. the cap and leave less in the dead cap pool.  While his current contract expires after the 2027 season, he is a better prospect (IMO) to extend because only 50% of his current contract was guaranteed.  Here are his contract numbers.   Now, getting to Ickey--he could want LT money if he is offered a second contract.  If we pay him LT money to play either G positions, we are likely overpaying.  Secondly, the injury he suffered could be one that limits his productivity.  Ickey was improving, but he was an average LT.  The only way I re-sign Ickey is to have him accept a G contract and make a lot of it incentive based.     I feel like I am missing something, but in my mind, Ickey was always a guard if you consider the fact that he is an average OT and would be a great G.  Is that still the case (injury)?
    • Supplemental draft uses picks from next year. So a team were to draft him in the 1st, their upcoming 1st next draft would no longer be available. There have been some notable players that were obtained in the supplemental draft, such as Kosar. It doesn't necessarily happen every year either, and is more on a as needed basis. The gambling trouble is a big red flag for teams, and maybe pushes him down to a 4th? Not sure a team would use a 1st on him.
