yeah i used to love doing that when i was working in computer repair.  i'd blow the fan out, clean up the heat sink with a chempad, and re-apply thermal grease and it would make a huge difference especially if it was used in a house with dogs or cats.

Toshiba A505, it's like 5 years old. I just recently had to replace the battery and adaptor. The internal mouse isn't as strong as it used to be.

Google usually shows you how. Some laptops you can get to from underneath, but some you've got to take apart the keyboard.

I didn't have to take apart anything though. Just blew in the vents with the power off and unplugged.

you're going to have to take the keyboard off on that model to get to the fan.  if you want to actually get to the heatsink assembly you might even have to remove the motherboard if i'm thinking of the right one.

or alternately you could just jam the straw from a can of compressed air into the vent and blow it out too.  if there's clumps of debris in there though it might be hard to dislodge

i cracked open a toshiba laptop once.   never again.

Toshibas are da debil. Any other computer, if a key comes off, you just pop it back in. Toshiba has clips, the clips have clips.

there are some laptops that are just designed poorly in general and aren't going to have good air flow no matter what you do.

 

hp had the nx9010 which was this boat anchor of a notebook that i used to see a lot in the mid 2000s.  that thing seriously had two or three cooling fans in it and still ran hot.
