Charlotte Observer Content

So I happened to link into an article about KB on the Observer today...

I start reading, and the "please subscribe" crap pops up. As in the past, I closed the advert and went on reading the article. It popped up again, and every time I tried to close it, it would go to the fist page of the general news section. Finally, I gave up.

This kind of stuff really pisses me off. Their revenue from advertisers, I assume, is largely based on page hits. Why is the subscription necessary as well?

There is plenty of good content on the internet without the need to subscribe, so why should the reader be obliged to do it? Anyone else find this obnoxious, or is it just me?

I would never give the CO one red cent to read their crap.  Now if I can read their crap for free then I will do so but them thinking the rest of us are so news deprived that we would pay for them for anything is wishful thinking on their part.

Can you blame them?  The few people that still order print newspapers are old and within the next 10 years they will probably shift to an all-online format.  Too bad there's tons of other free places to get the same news so you're SOL, Charlotte Observer.

Honest answer is that page hits generate an incredibly small portion of revenue. If you click on the ads present, you get a bit more, but not much. Subscription not only accounts for influx in revenue, but you can also charge the advertisers a base rate--because really, what's a "hit"? Now if you can say, hey...Gap Inc...here are our subscription numbers. Pay this rate and we guaranteed X number of people will see your ads.

    • I mean the whole defense was trash, he was at least trying. Besides if you put a all-pro among 10 PSers, that all-world will look human. It's very hard to judge very bad units and find the best players among them. Horn and Mjack played well too, there was 0 pass rush and -1777784 run defense.
    • I was looking back and seen Evan Neal has made the switch to OG after awful years at OT.......I wanted him over Icky for his tricep alone..... I was 100% stroud too, I was super pissed about his record setting and playoff leading start......I had arich vastly over the midget BY too. But right now, BY is about the only one on the up&up. The Texans used lots of prime draft capital to help Stroud.  It's still not ready. But if you're honestly about past drafts, these GMs are not alone in making mistakes.  I still feel they should stayed put and allowed Carter to fall in their lap, but best I know Tepper had the worst rage about landing a QB for the past 5 years. The deal is with the correct coaching staff, Baker or darnold would still be here....Baker has signed 3 years for 100 million, which is a great NFL QB contract. Tepper hiring rhule and his shitty Baylor/temple staff was a massive setback given rhule was in control too. Then panic set in an d fitteerererererer had to make a winner and find a QB. Ugh.....I hope they are back...
    • Also maybe the biggest part is his fromer college buddy, Lord Lamar told the GM to sign him. It was done nearly right after and guess who was the first person Alexander met at ravens stadium??
