Parity lesson: never take any team lightly

The NFL wanted to create parity and they have their wish. The balance of power shifts constantly and the difference between a stellar team and average team is but a few players, injuries, coaching ability, and just plain lucky breaks. I have been guilty of forgetting this one reality. The Panthers are the same as most of the teams right now. A good defense or offense trying to carry the part that is subpar. Every team has holes that they have to address. There are one or two teams every year that are a few notches above the others, it appears we may not be that team this year.It is only one game, but the problems on this team are now apparent. They cannot be fixed this year and so they will go on and do the best they can. I still support them 100% through good and bad.Never take ANY team lightly in the NFL...hopefully a lesson learned by all.

when dudes here said are we overlooking Pitt, I said not the Panthers just the huddle.... we have not play a solid winning team thus far. that's the facts and we have much to improve on. however I'm a firm believer that a good beating at the right time of the season breaks a great team in for the haul not beating weak teams. we should be embarrassed as Pitt comes in and sons us at home regular season quite a bit. one other thing, the killed our corners the same way Sherman got killed by the Chargers. that soft coverage at the the line was a given 8 yards if they caught the fast pass. it worked!

yea it sucked to be embarrassed by a mediocre Steelers team. but lets be honest, they played Panthers-style football better than the Panthers did. i am sure it humbled the team, especially the defense. i really think this loss sits squarely on the defense. how many times did they have a chance to flip the field and create some momentum for the team, and then fail due to penalty or misjudgment? i am still hopeful for this team after the loss because this is not the modus operandii for our defense. the defense will recover, and along with them, so will our offense. i really do think that this team is defined by defense, not by Cam Newton. as our defense goes, so goes our offense.... unfortunately.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
