Hello Peeps!!!

So me and Mr.PF are planning a trip to Asheville the weekend after Thanksgiving. We're actually going to leave Thursday and make it and extra long one...I know we'll be doing a brewery tour..so there's one day...but what's good to do up there? Is the Biltmore worth it at Christmas time? Price wise, is it worth it? We're not a budget so to speak ..but we're not makin' it rain either...

I've never really been up there..so I need food spots..bars..restaurants...awesome touristy stuff....errthang!!!

Help me out!!!

Everyone who visits Asheville as a tourist will say to go to the Grove Park Inn & a bunch of shops/restaurants in Biltmore. Here's my advice, as someone who grew up in Asheville. Stay away from the Grove Park Inn, the Biltmore House, hell stay away from the entire Biltmore area. It's nothing but a boring tourist clusterfug. Biltmore is just an upscale version of Pigeon Forge. Don't even drive through the congested mess. Take Exit 53B & loop around it & straight into downtown.

Don't worry about planning anything. Just walk around downtown, you'll find plenty of things to do. The Orange Peel & Asheville Millroom always have interesting stuff going on if you like concerts or comedy. Usually some great underground bands at the Peel, & occasionally a big mainstream name will show up. Steve-O & Kevin James are both gonna be at the Millroom sometime in October. Several of the pubs have live music throughout the week, notably Jack of the Wood. There is great restaurants & brew pubs on every street. Also plenty of places to go hiking if you like that sort of thing. Plenty of Arts museums & Arts theaters if you guys are into that kinda thing.

Also check out Tryon/Saluda on your way up. Easy to get too and neat downtown and hiking trail nearby that ends at the bottom of a waterfall.

my cousin lives in saluda. great place. it's got a cool downtown strip and the green river. its about a 50 minute drive though from central asheville. they also just got an amazing zip line but its pricey.

this. just stay downtown. so much awesome stuff to do.

the biltmore house is cool for like the first 30 minutes but then its just the same thing over and over again. probably the only thing worth going to in the biltmore area is the regeneration station. local artists and wood workers take in old poo and work their magic and sell them. you can find some crazy cool stuff there for cheap.

as someone who lives here... anybody that says to stay away from Biltmore is crazy

again... i LIVE here and have a season pass to Biltmore. i go tour the house every Thanksgiving and am on the grounds several times a month. the house alone is worth the price of admission and everything else the property has to offer is a bonus. hell, skip the house tour and go to the winery for the free tastings and live music almost every day

and don't miss out on Cantina and Village Wayside (best bar in Asheville)... both HIGHLY underrated spots in Asheville simply because everyone wants to tell people to stay away from Biltmore Village.  hell, staying away from the Village means that you probably miss out on Catawba Brewing Co.'s tasting room, which means you're DEFINITELY missing out

downtown is the real tourist trap... but rightfully so.  start at Pack's Square and work your way through town from there.

Just got back with the lady.

Biltmore was worth it, you should go.

Hit as many breweries as possible, we did a brewery tour and I had a blast.  We also stopped into as many cool bars as possible.

Food was a little overrated, but still very good.

    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
