Need to go at least 6-5 the rest of the way to go 9-7 & possibly win NFCS, 3 gimme games left

Home teams have completely destroyed the road teams this year on TNF

Giants just beat the snot out of the Redskins on the road the other week.

At the end of the day, considering how we looked against Pittsburgh and Baltimore (and no matter what anyone wants to blame it on, it DID happen), there is no way anyone can consider a game against New Orleans a gimme.  No game against Brees and Payton is a gimme game, no matter how much we may or may not like them.

Now do I think we will win that game?  I don't know, possibly.  New Orleans on the road on a short week isn't a good mix.  But it will still be a game we have to be at our best for.  It's a division foe who will be clawing for the playoffs just like we will be.

Honestly, after CIN, GB, and SEA, our games should all be won.

We have the Saints on Thursday so it's a short weak after a probably physical game against SEA, but we are comfortable with the Saints, so the short week won't hurt preparation. Also, with the Saints being away, we should have a distinct home-field advantage against their putrid D.

We then have the longest possible break outside of a bye week before playing Philly (Thursday night to Monday night). This gives us all the time we need to gameplan for Philly's O and get back healthy.

Then home against ATL. Should I say more?

We then get a bye week before going to MIN. This game scares me the most, but I think we finally get healthy after the bye week and our team comes out ready to shut down the Vikings.

Going to NO next should be a win considering the Saints don't even seem to have the same dominating home atmosphere this year, although that could change as the season progresses (this game is another toss up, but I still believe that we should come out of it with a win).

Then TB and the Browns will be two teams playing for draft positioning in BoA. Those are easy wins.

Finally, in what is becoming a staple of the Panthers, we will close our season in ATL, and as usual we will come away with the win as our team looks to carry our winning momentum into the playoffs.

If we lose the next three and the two potential losses I am seeing, then we still end up at 9-7 and will probably win the division, but I see us ending closer to 11-5. I'm sure we will lose one that I think we'll win, and we will probably win one of our next three. Best case scenario that I see? 13-3 with us losing to GB and winning the rest (I just have a bad feeling about being in GB with Rodgers against us, especially if Lacy gets going).

the browns are not a gimme game. they're like 5 points from beinh undefeated right now

Sorry, typical assumption about the Browns on my part. I do see us winning though since it will be a home game for us at the end of the season where we are always at our strongest. The best weapon for the Browns is their TE, and we have TD and Luke. I think we match up very well with them.

By this logic, we might as well say Tampa at home isn't a gimme either. No, no game is guaranteed but I'm liking our chances very much in all 3 games.

It isn't about a game being guaranteed.  I know what a gimme game is.  The Seattle Seahawks playing the Jacksonville Jaguars are what you would consider a gimme game.  The Denver Broncos playing the Oakland Raiders are what you would consider a gimme game.

You are simply overrating the Panthers by thinking a game against the Saints is a gimme.  It won't be easy at all, and likely will come down to the wire.  But this team just got stomped by Pittsburgh at home and Baltimore and while we overcame our flaws vs. Chicago... the flaws were still there.  We just haven't proven we are good enough to consider a game against Drew Brees and Sean Payton and a game against the feisty Cleveland Browns a gimme.

Here is my conspiracy theory.. I think Rivera is playing chess not checkers. Im thinking they arent overly concerned winning against AFC teams as they are winning against NFC teams. No im not saying we dont try to win the AFC ones, im just saying that maybe we focus more on the NFC teams so incase we dont win the division we have both head to head tie breakers and conference record tie breakers with other potential wild card teams. We are 3-0 in the NFC now and 0-2 against AFC teams.

    • I have never seen this cat play a single snap of football, BUT, I really hope that we're not counting on a 25 yo, UDFA who played 6 years of college ball to suddenly replace our starting LB.  Sounds to me like Dean Jones needed a story and didn't have anything else to write about. Wishing the guy luck though, cool nickname.
    • I'll go 1 further than that. This 23 year old had spent 4 years as a middle of the pack college player before exploding onto the scene as a 5th year senior, then we have enough faith in him to trade up 1 spot so that we can get a 5th year option and guarantee his salary. So in about a year's time he went from a mid round pick to a first rounder. It would be hard NOT to let that go to your head! I'm going to trust that the staff know what they're doing with XL and not give him too much crap about being a dumbass LAST season, as long as he doesn't continue to be one.
    • From Brugler's scouting report... Tavareon “Bam” Martin-Scott picked up his nickname because of the fireworks celebration he typically receives to celebrate his birthday. He grew up playing pee wee football in Fort Wayne, Ind., but developed late and was mostly a part-time player until his senior year at Snider High (alma mater of Jessie Bates). He posted 87 tackles and 6.0 sacks as a senior in 2018, but it wasn’t enough to put him on the recruiting radar. A no-star recruit, he played two seasons with Dodge City (Kan.) Community College and then received several SEC offers. His playing time and production gradually increased each season for the Gamecocks, and he put intriguing flashes on film. Martin-Scott is a good-sized athlete, with pursuit speed to match races to the perimeter. He competes with a banger mentality to pinball off blocks and stay determined on his path to the ball. Overall, Martin-Scott freelances a tad too much with inconsistent steps in coverage, but he is a classic run-and-hit linebacker who likes to play loose and chase plays — necessary ingredients for NFL special teams. grade: Free Agent
