The Panthers:

  • Have forced 10 turnovers in their three wins. They have no takeaways in their two losses.
  • Won their seventh straight game decided by seven or fewer points.
  • Have won nine of their last 10 regular-season home games.
  • Gave up just 26 rushing yards in the second half.
  • Were 3-for-3 in the red zone after coming into the game with the worst red zone conversation rate in the league.
  • Were called for a season-low three penalties.
  • G Trai Turner got his first NFL start. Fernando Velasco, who had started the first four games at right guard, did not play.
  • LB Luke Kuechly, who led the Panthers with 15 tackles, has double-digit tackles in his last four games. His 11 solo tackles ties a career high (vs. Atlanta on 12/9/12; vs. SF on 11/10/13).

For some reason it's making me blindly (naïvely?) optimistic for the rest of the season.

That is if we can continue to play like we did in the 2nd half.

We need to get healthy. Our next three games could make or break our season.  Cam looks to be getting healthy, but the RBs and DEs must start to conribute.  Hats off to the backups who gave it their best. And I don't hink Bersin has dropped a pass this season !

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
