I truly don't want a rebuild of the teams defense and defensive philosophy because we are letting our best pass rusher go.

Either will have devote more resources to build a better secondary. Which takes away from building a Oline for Cam or getting him more weapons. Or we have to go on a hunt for another elite talent top 10 pass rusher to replace the one you're letting go. Which isn't easy to do.

There is a big reason that Gettleman didn't sign Hardy to a long term deal.  And that was that he had 2 big seasons and that is it.  Lets not put him in elite status unless he can show he can duplicate last year's production every year and can play in this league with some emotional stability..  So far this is his 5th year and he has a total of 34 sacks which is seven a year.  If he continues to not play he is a huge liability that we need to move away from.

His own lack of good judgement in picking friends landed him in his present circumstances. Then I said that signing him wasn't a priority given where we are right now. 13 million might buy you an elite pass rush and someone who isn't a head case. I don't how that correlates to your post above. You said elite guys a re hard to find and I said 13 million was a good amount to pay for one. Problem is that he hasn't gotten a chance to do anything. You need to hope he gets exonerated and returns in time to show what he can do. Otherwise it won't matter what we think because I can't see Gettleman signing him unless he is a deal.

CJ is playing hurt, TD has been hurt, Luke has a gimp hand and our secondary is a shell of what it was last year. Those have been our biggest problems.

CJ got hurt last year and we still didn't look this bad. Look at the defensive numbers after the Pat's game. We dropped a little but not like this.
