We SHOULD win the NFC South

And even though they have all those problems, they've masked them well enough to start 5-1 this season, and play to their strengths

Wish we had a coach that could do that

Look at who they've played and the number of defense/special teams touchdowns they've had. Luck got them that record and they are bound to implode.

Yes, let's go with that!

Smartest thing you've said yet, philosopher - LOL.  Gotta tell ya, it has been fun reading your posts while you were trying to worm your way out of your initial rules/math errors - you get credit in my book for effort but you got a Loss, not even Tie in that debate.

Anyway, all the negative post guys need to calm down and try to stay positive about our Panthers.  I've been watching NFL for more than 50 years and I have learned that what they say is true - it really IS a long season.  No matter how things look today, things will probably look different in a few weeks from now.

Examples,

- last year Panthers were 1-4 and 'everyone' knew the season was already over.

- about a month ago the season had already been declared as 'over' for the Cowboys

- about a month ago the Seahawks were still a shoe-in for the SuperBowl  - and now we meet them in Charlotte and we are both 0.500.

I'm old enough to have learned that trying to predict the future of any NFL team based on past games is like trying to drive down the road at 60mph by only looking in your rear view mirror - not very reliable.

That said, us Panthers fans just need to stay positive and give our guys LOUD support on Sundays ... and hope to win enough games to end up on top of NFCS.  And if we can do that, who knows ?

Hope to see you guys at the Carolina Huddle tailgate next Sunday !

If you enjoyed that, you're gonna love this...

Scenario: the 2015 Carolina Panthers lose the first game of the season, then remarkably go on to tie in the following 13 games, before FINALLY getting two wins right at the end of the season. Their record is 2-1-13.

Would you be celebrating their winning season? I wouldn't. They only won 2 games after all. But their "win percentage:" is .531, which happens to be the same as if they had the 8-7-1 record you guys have been touting as a winning record.

You're welcome.

Hey kid, you just don't give up on a lost cause, do you ?

Your scenario is at least correctly stated this time.  If the NFL ever gets to the unlikely point that 13 or more games in one season could end in a tie, and, in an even more unlikely scenario, that 1 team can be in 13 of those games, then hell yes, I would be proud to see my Panthers have a winning record.  And with 2 wins, they would have Mr. Mo on their side for playoffs - LOL.

Before I answer your question, I'll tell you this.  I am a retir5ed engineer

Sorry but can't be too optimistic about winning the South simply because everyone else sucks worse than we do... all that means is we lose our first playoff game. I know it's possible that this team rebounds and plays well the rest of the way but looking at our personnel I doubt it.

Even if we barely make the playoffs, I would really worry about how far we would actully make it there.

Let's say that we make the playoffs. If this defense doesn't change much by then, we might get win a game or two to start off (If we get matched up against the right teams) , but I think we'd eventually lose against a high powered offense.

I'm sorry I try to be positive. But after seeing the defense get destroyed by multiple different teams repeatedly, I'm just very sceptical of this team's potential playoff performance right now.

The thing I hate the most is when I see the other team just completing so many passes against our defisve backs, and the d-back seem to almost always be at least 5 yards away from the reciever when they catch the ball. What is it that causes them to be that wide open so much of the time? Is it because we get no pressure on the QBs or because our DB's are slower than the other team's receivers and/or they mis-predict where the reciever will run to?
