Why did it take an injury for Norwell to play?

where offense is concerned i don't trust rivera. i don't trust gettleman with the OL.

i think both guys are obsessed with the DL which is why 3 of the past 4 first and second round picks have been DL and we decided to invest 20% of the cap on two players from the same position and moved the least talented DT to the OL to be a starting OT.

Good thing is we have him signed through 2016, and he's a RFA in 2017. So we've got both Norwell and Turner locked up for 4 years making next to nothing.

When we brought Mike Wahle in, in 2005, we had a pretty revamped Oline that season as well. thing is, they had more talent as well. Wahle stated how much work it was to get the Oline to gel. To get used to the foot placement of the person next to you. to get their tendencies down and really start to work as one solid unit.This was in a preseason interview.

Personally, I think the fact that there wasn't a "decided" position for Bell or Chandler early in training camp has hindered the Oline in that process Wahle was talking about. Since then, injuries have been an issue as well. So there's not much in the "One Solid Unit" when the time together keeps getting changed up.

We all knew it'd take time to get the line to be a unit. But, talent level lacking, and cohesion lacking as well, I hope that the team sets positions and early and lets the line work together in the right positions. Instead of having players learn new positions all Mini camp, and early training camp ad when the first game comes up, only then make a decision on who's gonna play where.

starters should have been decided on in mini camp and more should have been done to ensure that we at least had competition. then the rest of the offseason spent creating chemistry and cohesion. this is something that we need to do, but have failed miserably at going back years.

Two things pretty much every NFL head coach is given full control over: Their staff and the depth chart.

GMs - Gettleman included - have no more say on these things than they do when time outs are called on game day.

It would be interesting to know how the DG/RR dynamic really works. I am sure there is more disagreement and compromise that goes on then what we are privy to.
