Fan Experience - Panthers vs. Hornets

I was thinking after the game last night the differences between the fan experience at Panthers games and last night's Hornets game. I realize last night was something special (being a homecoming of sorts for our beloved Hornets), but do you think the Panthers brass has any desire to replicate that feeling for the Panthers fans?

Jerry Richardson was at the hive last night and he experienced what is was like to have a fan-first experience. Every employee in the place was cordial, friendly, and wished my wife and I a good evening. Everything the Hornets did last night was fan-centric (from the top notch giveaways to the friendly service and fan acknowledgement). They did it up right.

Do you feel the same way at Panthers games? Do you feel it is truly fans first or do you feel the team has a money-first mentality? The fans were rewarded last night for the patronage and thanked continually. I'm getting the feeling that Carolina has gotten used to being the best show in town and has let their service slip. I know we will never see Jerry Richardson pumping his fists like Jordan last night, but isn't it time to thank the fans for sticking with our up and down, inconsistent team?

As a season ticket hold for both from the beginning of both, I can say I tired of Panthers' Event Staff just looking to catch you doing something wrong, and the Bobcats/Hornets arena staff have always gone beyond need when it comes to kissing ass.

Hornet experience far exceeds Panther experience.

I've never, ever, ever experienced the Panthers event staff "just looking to catch you doing something wrong." Ever. Until a year or so ago, I had never missed a home game. While others' experiences obviously are different, I think the notion that the Panthers are not "fan friendly" is largely a myth.

Bobcats staff always seemed to go out of their way to help you. I wouldn't say Panthers aren't 'fan friendly' but I never get that treatment at BOA.

It's pretty simple guys, BOA sells out every game.  The Hornets don't.  They need to emphasize a good fan experience to sell more tickets.  The Panthers don't.  Richardson gets his money either way, whether there are actually butts in the seats that were paid for or not.  And to be perfectly honest, I don't think the fan experience affects attendance one bit in BOA.  Attendance is directly tied to performance for our organization and always will be.  Unless we manage to go on some crazy, long, dynasty-like run and develop a large, hardcore fanbase that keeps going to games even when the dynasty is dead (see: Steelers, Cowboys).

At the Bears game we had 2 Bears fans sit next to me and I thought, uh oh. But they turned out to be great guys, eagerly talking football with everyone around them. Moved to Rock Hill from Chicago this year. There were 2 things that they said they'd trade us for: our cheerleaders (Bears have none) and the stadium staff. Apparently the staff isn't so nice at Soldier Field. So it could be worse.

There's a big difference between handling a crowd of 20,000 in a controlled environment for 2 hours and a crowd of 74,000 with the majority outside in the elements for 4 hours. I've never had a bad experience with the staff at BoA but I did with the Hornets when Shinn owned them. I'm glad MJ has turned that around.

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
